/ranting whine
Well, EQ2's first expansion pack is announced. The second adventure pack is announced... And PVP is thrown in as per player-base demand.

This is a slight flame post.

I'm not saying EQ2 sucks, but SoE, the king of money whoring and expansion packs, is starting their vicious cycle of adding overpowered everything to their game and nerfing it into oblivion, quite literally nerfing the fun out of the game...

EQ2 is still fun for now, so I shall continue to play it...but it pains me to know the future SoE will most likely have in store for it...

the pvp fact I hate also...SoE can't balance classes properly at all, the classes will get balanced into oblivion just like in planetside...oh well...

/end ranting whine.

Oh...(edit) I don't care if you post your distaste of SoE, or this post in general, but no BBQ flaming, it just insults the intelligence of the people in the forums when one idiot runs along...

Edit...again...I hope SoE proves me wrong on this entire subject...

Yes I am very angry that their expansion team is already almost finished with their first offering for us.

I am also sick of all the extra zones, spells, loots, and quests they give us for less than $10.00 in the Adventure Packs.

Bastard company releasing more content for a game I am having fun playing. How could they do this to us?!!?

Who cares about PvP. You don't even know how it will be implemented. Whining indeed.

point being SoE is a QUANTITY company, not a quality company. This is what seperates good game companies from the bad ones.

The reason I really loved AC1 over EQ1 so much was AC1 offered quality content on a monthly basis with a good story and rarely ever even hinted at an expansion pack.

Thanks for the sarcasm, however. Was a nice chuckle.

edit: /laugh...I do believe I flamed my own thread.

Don't buy it. The game you're enjoying right now won't go anywhere.

Also PvP will have a different "ruleset" than PvE. They're making each spell have varied effects in PvP and PvE, so they can balance PvP without effecting PvE.

But then an interesting phenomenon happens.

You happen to be one of only a few people left on the server who don't have the expansion and your group wants to go to that area. You cannot go, though, since it is restricted...you feal left out since you're the only one without it and feal obligated to get it *just* so you can hunt with your friends.

It happens in every game with expansion packs (O_o)

The PvP will be completley different than the PvE

They're not going to nerf the classes to make them balanced in a fight

Eh, just taking it to the very extreme. I hope they keep it completely seperate ::::06::

    Oh well...

according to the Developers they aren't touching the combat PvE aspect of the game. When you enter into PvP mode everything will adjust accordingly to PvP.

When you are finished PvPing your readjusted to the PvE once more.

Personally, I dont know how they will be doing this, so I cant fill you in with specifics....

    .....not right now at least

    Alas...I still don't like it.

Well, I still like my little doomsday theories...oh well...*continues enjoying the game...sorta...wheres that credit card...*

    I dont understand

You dont like it because they're adding PvP

or you dont like it because the DEVs are adding expansion packs which costs money to have?

I guess im sorta confused what you're upset about...because you dont have to worry about them altering your character's abilities....they wont be touched if you dont participate in the PvP

Nerf is part of mmorpg.Everyone is so quick at yelling at SoE all the time while all mmorpg do this.

The expansions is often what drives an mmorg forward. It adds depth to the game. Of course, in some cases they also mark every "Howto" and "Guide" posted on the net as outdated.

I can't argue with you there. Nerfs are necessary to the balance of any MMO.

The problem I have with SoE here is if you get a large group of people on the forums to cry nerf then the devs will nerf it. It's not a maybe, it's a will. I've seen this happen more times than I can count on pretty much balanced items.

SoE isn't the only one doing radical and unjustified nerfs (poor mages in every MMO...) but they control a large portion of the MMO Industry due to them aquiring EQ1 and being great at marketing...well...everything...so it's natural for SoE to recieve most of the brunt of the force when anyone refers to them and nerfing the fun out of the game, which they've done more often than most think.

I can't argue entirely with this. However, I have seen MMO's only get one or two expansions as a slight story arch and seen the MMO driven purely by standard updates once every month. Every month it was a new story, at least one new quest (hey, it was a small dev team), some new or returning arch-villain to propel the story forward and a bunch of eager devs waiting to use their new toy to slaughter hapless mages, archers, and swordsman who wanted to watch the story-arch first-hand before doing the quest(s) tied into it.

What I have never seen SoE truly do is add true depth via an expansion pack. Blizzard does it with their games IE Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3, hell...most other games/mmo's do this, but SoE just seems, I repeat, SEEMS hell bent on rapidly firing out their expansion packs one after another with no true depth being added other than all these cool overpowered carrots that you are required to purchase the expansion to get, and if you don't get them you are underpowered severely. They've done it before.
