It could be the 2nd coming, which it ain't , and as long as it remains P2P it'll never do great. The MMO market is not big enough to support at most a couple Subscription games and it appears WoW and Eve has those locked up. Ever stop and think why crappy games like Diablo 3 or Call of Duty sell millions of boxes every year. I assure you the reason is because of Subscriptions, or should I say the lack thereof. Why do you think there was such a huge backlash to any DRM added to any game. Single player and F2P games are the future, and for the most were the past. The MMO scene is too niche to support hundreds of Subscription games.
With that being said, 70% (according to one poll) of Elder Scrolls fans have said they will not be playing ESO. Couple that with all the negativity surrounding the many inconsistencies with their marketbase it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to predict this game will bomb and bomb big.
completely disagree with this post. if people didn't want to play P2P games they wouldn't buy them in the first place.
take SWTOR for example, was it not an initial success? are you telling me all those people had no clue it required a monthly subscription?
also, if you think this will do poorly in sales just because it is p2p you are not being very honest with yourself.
and what poll are you referring to? a poll on the forums? LOL do you not realize that the vast majority of people that buy and play these games don't visit forums?
most the people on these forums hate everything anyways, they would hate this game even if it was exactly like skyrim just multiplayer.
its not going to bomb in terms of initial sales, unless you believe anything less than 5 millions copies sold is bombing.

Yes, Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs make up the Daggerfall Covenant. Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves), and Khajit make up the Aldmeri Dominion. Nords, Dunmer (Dark Elves) and Aragonians make up the Ebonheart Pact. They are all fighting over the Ruby Throne, the seat of the Empire in Cyrodill. The highest rated player from the faction in control will be the Emperor.

I'd rather see posts saying "the game looks like crap", over "the game can't handle drawing10 people on the screen". In the end I don't play graphics, I want a game that has good massive PVP, that handles it as smoothly as possible.

Great, three faction pvp. That is all well and good, but it is really the only thing people are talking about.
I am with superconducting, this game has so few of the qualities that make it seem like an Elder Scroll game, well, it doesn't seem like an ES game.
It seems like a typical rehashed MMORPG with some vague ES appearances. The world seems as shallow as any other MMORPG, and an in depth world is one of the biggest draws to an ES game for many people, as well as the ability to influence that world. I know that is tough to do in an MMORPG, and unless they find a way to add some depth, they will go the same route as every other new MMORPG these days. Huge initial numbers with a steep fall off a cliff.
I wish they had just done a new ES game with multiplayer capabilities. Skyrim with a friend or two would have been amazing.
I was fortunate enough to test this game out last beta, and all I can say is, the video doesn't do the PvP justice. It is a LOT of fun. It reminds me of the good old DAOC days, even better than GW2.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of criticism of TESO, but the possibility of it being zerg prone like GW2 is zerg prone is what truly worries me. If that is the case, then group work of any form in TESO is going to be a maelstrom of impatient nonsense.
Definitely, I'm looking forward to TESO, but I'll wait for the earily rush to pass and the posting of some reviews before I dig in myself.
Waiting for:Citadel of Sorcery. Along the way, The Elder Scrolls Online (when it is F2P).
Keeping an eye on:www.play2crush.com (whatever is going on here).

too funny, probably true.
The true final laugh is that those end-game PVP fights are only after someone maxes their toon. With 3 factions to play, why would anyone waste time to get good at PVP. Create a new character on another faction, and see that story instead!
For those big fights, people would need to continue working on just 1 character, and resist the true nature of ESO - PVE story!
I foresee empty battlegrounds for quite some time .. which is going to irritate the PVP-centric crowd, causing them to break-up / disband, and ultimately leaving a cluster F for PVP. lol
Any bets on how soon this game goes F2P? Use SWTOR as a reference of 11 months .. Over, Under? lol.
this poor guy has never played daoc, nor experience the three way death triangle that was a source of some of the most fantastic pvp , ever.
this unfortunate soul never pvped , or else he would know the fun that could be had by low level pvping.
this poster is an unfortunate result of 6 years of relative bad gaming, pity him, he knows not what he says, there is always hope for a refreshing new game, so dont give in .
I cant see a great gaming company destroying a 10 year IP, and risking millions of dollars in revenue from a guaranteed source, aka the single player games in order to venture into the mmorpg world. then again i do have an edible hat, hope i don't have to eat it
You said it all.
The only saving grace this game has is it near identical and much loved PvP system. It will be the only thing that keeps the game afloat for any length of time. I myself loved DAoC, but I am just not into PvP any more. Therefore ESO will most likely be a pass because (insert NDA). I wish them all the luck because they are going to need it and PvP will be the ONLY thing to keep the game running.
Those looking for a PvE Elder Scrolls world will not find much enjoyment out of the game as of right now. That could change once we know more about Adventure Zones, but TES purists will most likely find the many MMO elements too harsh for their likes.
One of these days someone will take the perfect PvE elements of a Diablo 2 and Asheron's Call and create the ultimate PvE experience FOR ME. All I want is a perpetual persistent MMO with many of the same ARPG elements found in D2 and AC.
Yes, because that should be the focus of all MMOs..to please you personally. Oh and those looking for PVE ES world won't find much enjoyment until we find out more about Adventure Zones? Yeah, because ES games all have Adventure Zones which will make them happy. Oh wait..no. Your comment makes no sense.
This is not an ES single player game and it was never meant to be. Any ES fan that expects that will be disappointed because it's unrealistic. That doesn't mean there isn't plenty to like for ES fans but it's an MMO so get used to the idea that this is a different game and NOT the next iteration of the ES series.
Nice to see a release date.. I am looking forward to this game.. NDA keeps me from saying how many people in this thread have so many things so wrong about the game...
I think a lot of folks are going to be surprised.. one or the other I guess..LOL

My toughts exactly. The videos of ESO gameplay I've seen so far made me extremly worried about quality of animations. They seem completely simplified and unnatural, like some blast from the past, and not 2014. game.
Overal I am very concerned with lack of information we've been getting about game developement and details. I am big fan of Elder scrolls games, but this doesnt look promising and makes me nervous and worried. The pay model too... you really have to offer something new, special, and perfectly polished to ask for full pay model nowadays. This... i dont know.
The 3-faction PvP is old information. I thought the detailed information would be about the mechanics (how seiging works, how becoming an emperor works, etc), something like the character progression video.
Forcasting is not you forte, stick to something you are good at.
Really cracks me up with all the critics, the game won't be out for another 4 months and they know it all. Pardon while I secretly chortle at you. If the game does not fit your play style fine, move on, there are tons of the crappy f2p games out there to waste your money on.
Three way PVP works. DAoC would still be going strong if some short sighted devs had not made some players over powered due to a long quest chain.
I think they don't post more video about the game that people will not buy it because will see how shitty it is.
AND I wait and hope that game is great I HOPE it so and I will not preorder it because I think it might be trash I will wait until more info is reveled buy people who bought it .
FOR MMORPG staff I'm not trolling this is a usual thing these company use when they have a feeling or expectation that game will fail they show small parts of the game with no details small parts so that people desire TO BUY!! the game is there and they dont lose it because in announce game looks like a piece of total garbage.

The pvp video they just released is 100% in game footage. It uses some Cinematic camera angle's a few times but it is real gameplay none the less .
Well if it is 100% in-game footage using actual Testers, then it is seriously Scripted.
Like a Hollywood (Uwe Boll) Movie. Scene-Take-Cut-Splice-Edit-Release.
Id like to see some in-game footage of what the game will be like when players are actually PLAYING it and not just acting it out.
Just a 5 min video of players having a good old knockdown dragout battle in Cyrodiil. Real Time
Not a crumby commercial

Looks like a combination of GW2's environment aestetics but with Rift's lame combat animations.

If I knew nothing about this video, I would not be able to tell it was an Elder Scrolls game.
And that's precisely what worries me the most.

I guess this means the combat system won't be overhauled. What a disappointment..
Well, I definitely won't be playing the game then. Beta was not enjoyable at all, actually made me want to go play Skyrim for the first time.
I guess we can still hope they do change things, right?
