image Adding all these new features, quests, zones, etc. Did the game get a lot better from it. I quit a while back near release (mostly because of the immense loading times) and am thinking of coming back.

Is it worth coming back to?

Can someone please make me a sig. I would like it to have something to do with an eagle(the bird) Somewhere near the eagle can you put the words "Global Defense Initiative". Could you also have the line "If you can't buff up, don't step up!". Thanks!

It really depends on what you are looking for they have added al lot of content for lv 1-30 players… a whole lot.  Most of the common zones are solo friendly now and the entrance areas for most dungeons are also soloable so you can have things to do while your group gathers.  Common zones have progressive quests designed to be soloable and keep you busy as you climb the level ranges of the zone.  The quest system is still a little bland but once you start to work on the Heritage and advanced access quests it gets really interesting and yes complicated.

I would suggest that you give it a shot if you intend to get the current adventure pack and will be getting the next adventure pack and expansion.  Reason being that if you started back now you should be reaching the levels where the new content will be useful to you once it is released.

If you do get back into it please remember that if you chose to grind Exp you will hate this game but if you try to be social and play in small groups you will notice that the game is actually fun and leveling is not a grind.

There is also a new twist to leveling.  Every 10% you get your skill caps advanced and lots of times you get new skills at 50%-60% so you do not get the feeling of stagnation that was common early in the game.  I for one think that it is a great, you actually get gradually stronger and not just in big unrealistic chunks, plus you are also able to kill higher level mobs and get the better exp the closer you are to leveling.  EX: being about 70% to the next level and effectively soloing an orange solo mob.

now, as for whether or not you should come back. i think you should at least give it a try. they definitely have added a whole lot to the game that makes it worth coming back to IMO, but the game still isn't for everyone. if you give it a try again you may like it and stay, if not the worst that could happen is you lose $15 (assuming you still have the retail copy of the game).

for a rough idea of some of the things theyve added since launch go here.

Schutzbar - Human Warrior - Windrunner Alliance - World of Warcraft
Nihilanth - Kerra Paladin - Blackburrow - EverQuest II
    XBL Gamertag - Eagle15GT

They have been working hard alright.  To make it too easy.

Every new patch made it more solo friendly.  Some people like that some don't.  I am in the group that does not like it.

I know they did it to increase their market share and I guess I can't blame them for that.

I play both WOW and EQII and soon the only difference between them will be that one is made by SOE and the other is made by Blizzard.

I have to agree to a point. I actually liked EQ II more before they started a bunch of the changes. It was a challenging game and you had to use your head alot, even when just grouping and fighting mobs. If you didn't use your head the group was toast. I feel thats slowly changing now and pretty soon its just gonna be another solo MMO. I like the "group model" in an MMO and didn't want it altered.

I still do feel however that EQ II is a top notch game and one of my favorites. I needed alittle change from fantasy after 8 years though and am doing some SWG for the moment til a sword looks appealing again.

Loading time is why you left?

Then no, you should not come back because loading time hasn't changed, and neither has the amount of patience it takes to play the game.
