You can assume quality problems when it lowered 10-15 bucks in the first 3 months depending on where you looked...not saying it sucked or anything, but most thought EQ2 would launch just because it carried the EQ1 name (I still think EQ1 is complete crap)...alas...
it's normal for mmorpgs to drop from 49 bucks to 39 bucks after almost 7 months of gameplay. It's actually abnormal if they don't lower the price after so long.

well, enigma, then can you perhaps explain how the cost of MMO's on a monthly basis ended up rising from 10 bucks a month to 15 bucks a month in the past 6 years against any reasonable logic?...except staffing requirements...and server support thingies...

value of the dollar drops, prices in general rise over the past 6 years, people willing to pay 15 dollars a month, market is overflowing with different mmo's so player base thins out between all of them. Companies raise the prices to compensate for the drop in customers. *shrug* any number of reasons
This place is full of tree-huggers and tofu fartn' faeries...
The rait of inflation on MMO's is nowhere near the actual rait of inflation of the cost of the dollar over the last 6 years.
If it raised 50% over the last 6 years then games in general should be 75 bucks straight up now, and not STILL at 50 with no signs of moving up at all in the near future.
thin population? perhaps...not that thin though...most avoid the bad MMO's or ones with bad publishers...poor horizons...
actually the general price of games raised from 39.99 to 49.99 within the past 7-6 years. And if you look at the just number of 'major' MMO's on the market today compaired to 6 years ago, the number is drastic. But the market itself hasnt grown that much in that time frame, meaning the player base hasnt grown a great deal. So what we're dealing with companies who were losing money on a steady basis (atleast compared to what they WERE making). So they went out to the community and through careful proding found what the current limit was they would go to play their games on an uninterrupted basis. average that with what they figure to make the money they were and you end up with a number.

server prices are a completley different topic than lower mmorpg prices. You shouldn't even compare the two.
That's sorta like saying a car you bought in 1999 is worth 15,000 bucks now when at the time that you bought it it costs 35,000 and then wondering why in the hell is gas prices going up...after all in 1989 gas was 75 cents a gallon
Does that mean the car sucks? No not at all. It's just a lower price because the car is gradually getting older. Meanwhile to make an analogy of your "why are the server prices going up up up?" Simple.
Let's use the same analogy of the car again. Well, the car goes down in value but at the same time gas prices go up up up.
Well, it's the same exact thing. Gas prices go up because of two things. Availability of oil and the steadily raising costs of salaries to staff those who handle the oil etc etc
Game = Car
It goes down in value because newer products are introduced. Electronics and software related items are 10 times more to go down in value than vehicles and it doesnt mean they suck
Servers=Gas
You need money to staff servers, to maintain servers, to keep them running. The natural law of economics simply dictates the fact that those prices will go up due to the raising costs of income, costs of living, electricity, better components. etc
That's my explaination

Eight months ago EQ2 was going for $49.99 retail and now you can get it for $19.99 brand new on Ebay. I said it before and I'll say it again....the game is a flop.

Two of your links are from the same seller and this is what it says in the item description: "We do not guarantee or claim to provide anything except the CD or DVD itself. CD keys, Registration forms, On-line group gaming support, special offers, documentation and other contents may or may NOT be included."
The other link is from a seller in England so after the sell price which was around $24 and about $10 for shipping I'd be paying $34 for a used game because it says nothing about being NEW and SEALED.
Nice try......actually that was a very lame try. Don't even bother to try again.

GBP 1.00 "starting bid"......that isn't "buy it now for 1.00 GBP" now is it? I told you not to try again but you wouldn't listen.

regular game dealers carry it for 30 now...
it'd be hard to find it for 50

Swift, all games lower in price at their 7th month of release. Don't assume that it is lower because of quality.
