I find this particular criticism to be the most baffling. What specifically do you feel an MMO should "add"? Because an MMO is a genre of games, and genres have certain conventions. They promised an MMO, they delivered an MMO.

So what you're saying is you want something other than an MMO, right?

Haha, with that thought. We would still be playing games from 30 years ago.

Everything eventually evolves at one point or another.

P.s. I've also played the game. And I lasted for about 1 day before I got bored. Because of what @Tygranir said.

It's the same ole shit just a different story.

I was looking forward to this game, and then I watched this video...

Well, I really enjoyed that to be honest, and I'm left wanting to see more. Definetly will be picking this game up.

It was never a sandbox, you may be thinking of archage or something.

They claimed it to be both. (they as in the production team)

Been following most threads on this game and I have never seen it called a sandbox by the development team or anyone else, you must be confusing this with another game.

I wish them luck, seems to be lots of heavy handed critics on this thread.  Hard to get a feel for a game watching a video.  I am glad they went subscription, it will keep out the riff raff and reduce farming.

here is an article with one of the producers talking sandbox/sanboxish stuff.

Haha. That's what i thought too.  It's still only the first 15 minutes though, but i saw the infamous ! icon, and thought to myself, "themepark".

And why is the camera aligned so high above the character?  It looks ridiculous.

I am so happy that you ( you know who ) , will not play WS. I will enjoy every inch of it. I loved the video.  The details are so amazing.  What did you expected from a early lvl closed beta preview ? Mortal Kombat meets God Of War Vs Bruce Lee and Super Man ?

Anyway , no one didn't notice how kick-ass Dr Victor Lazarin voice is?

"..oh , and do it somewhere I can find your corpse. Tshank you.."

    ^ THIS! Nailed it.

I think they are doing a great job. Their vision is good and I will wait and see how their execution of that vision goes.

    Looks very outdated.

Absolutely no interest in this game anymore after seeing it in action.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Based on the comments in this thread, it doesn't really look too good for Wildstar. I think the worst thing they could have done was make a game that looks like Allods, WOW and SWTOR. The general population is only going to rag on them for it. I am sure they did this to compete with WOW, but that is the wrong approach as no mmo can compete with WOW. Now Carbine has an mmo that looks like a rip-off of Allods, WOW and SWTOR. Despite how original and fun the combat may be, some won't look past the art style clone of other cartoonish mmos.

15 minutes is far from enough to judge an MMO.  Take a look at SWTOR for instance.

I really would never judge anything based on the trolling and hate in this forum.  Not to mention, this is a very small minority of the overall mmo gamers out there.  Judge the game by how well it does at launch and after.

True that, but this is different, first uncut gameplay vids just hit the web. Not only on this site, but see the same on other sites and youtube vids with more than 15 minutes of gameplay. People aren't trolling they are just giving feedback from what they see from uncut gameplay.

My gaming guild is planning on making this one of their main games to play. I personally just can not get into it. Every video just is so unimpressive. Sorry WS fans, it just doesn't do anything for me.

Let's party like it is 1863!

This is why you don't come to these forums looking for an honest opinion of an MMO.

"15 Mins starter level did't have XYZ feature that I arbitrarily decided makes it perfect, DAED GAME."

I still don't have much of an opinion based on this video. I don't think char creation, plus tutorial zones are any indication of lasting appeal - unless you've got ADD or something.

I'll wait for Open Beta, or the chance to try it myself before I declare it a smashing success or DOA.

Indeed. I find it funny that a website where the highest rated game is FFXIV (The pinnacle of everything the people in this thread are railing against) seems to be filled with people who demand "different" and "innovative". It's been made very clear over the years that I've visited here that nobody knows what they want, but they're damn well sure that they're going to be as negative and hostile as possible until they figure it out.

Bright colors and cartoony animation = younger player base target audience.  That alone is enough for me to continue the wait for a grown up mmo with RPG that matters.

That is perfectly ok.  Wildstar is not going to be for everyone.  I don't even mind the opinion you have.  It's the hate and constant trolling of anything Wildstar that gets old quick.  There are mmos out there I don't like myself.  But, I won't waste my time going to every thread of that mmo and posting how much I hate it.

Ya realistic graphics with fireballs and dragons = grown up mmo.  Got it.

The thing you have to remember is that they are 1 of 2 people, either the player who is just waiting to see if it really is popular so they can jump on the bandwagon and hang out with all the cool kids, or the dedicated Wow player who hates anything that's even remotely similar to it.

I'd say both player types aren't needed in this game, but at least it's comforting to know that the first player type will at least be parting with their cash in order to be one of the cool kids, even if they are being negative now.

If you based everything from the forums on this website, everything would be a failure.
