Stealth Subgame and ESO

l remember in DAoC, there was a huge stealth subgame. everything from soloers to multiple stealth groups ambushing people and other groups.

Seeing as how all characters in ESO can have access to at least a basic form of sneak. ls there likely to be more than a subgame of stealth war, as in stealth zergs? or is the basic sneak ability not powerful enough to make this possible?

l also remember making a melee ranger in DAoC for the purpose of finding 1v1 fights with other stealthers. Would the Nightblade class skill tree provide the best options to 1v1 other classes "sneaking" around?

After reading this I'm assuming you haven't played the beta, so I'll answer with a yes to your stealth question. Nightblade has the best tree for it even though anyone can do it with medium gear on, or better at it rather.

What you won't find here is permanent invisibility like DAoC, WOW and many of the older MMOs had.

Stealth here, even if you're a Nightblade geared and traited to be good at it, drains stamina - it's temporary. The difference between a good and a ghetto stealth build is in how long you can keep it up.

Such as putting the vast majority of my attribute points into stamina?

l always enjoy trying to create a stealthy character, that specializes in finding and fighting with other factions stealthers

That and more. For example the Medium Armor Passive:

    • [Passive] Windwalker – Increases Stamina regeneration per piece of medium armor equipped.
...and the whole Nightblade Shadow tree which also includes Stealth enhancement for your allies through a Synergy
    • [Ultimate] Consuming Darkness - An AoE snare that renders the Nightblade invisibile. Attacking an enemy removes the invisibility for a short time. Allies can activate the Slip Away synergy, also gaining invisibility.
    • [Active] Shadow Cloak - Gain invisibility for a short duration.
    • [Active] Veiled Strike - Deals increased damage and stun enemies. Requires Stealth.
    • [Active] Summon Shade - Summons a shade which attacks and debuffs your enemies causing them to deal less damage.
    • [Active] Path of Darkness - Deals damage in a path in front of you, increases your movement speed along that path.
    • [Active] Aspect of Terror - Nearby enemies are afflicted with Fear.
    • [Passive] Refreshing Shadow - Activating a Shadow ability increases stamina regeneration
    • [Passive] Shadow Barrier - Take less damage after coming out of stealth or invisibility
    • [Passive] Fortitude - Increase max Health per slotted Shadow ability slotted
    • [Passive] Dark Veil - Increase duration of Shadow abilities

You can get a lot of this off my links in the sticky at the top of this forum.

BTW... passive abilities in this game also have to be trained once you earn the ability to do so and ranks that can be trained up - but to do so you need to use the same skill points you earn that you need to use to skill up anything else such as weapon, armor and guild skill actives and passives.

Starting to see the depth and variety of builds? :)

indeed, l used that link earlier today.. thanks! it helped me to theorycraft a few tactics.

what im seeing mostly though is that it seems the NBs class skills can help regen stamina, but dont seem to actually help the stealth effectivness.. the medium armor seems to have more going for it in that regard..

one theorycraft method that looks like it might be feasible would be, sneak up to an enemy until im in range to land Veiled Strike, attack until shortly after the stun affect wears off then hit Shadow Cloak for the invisibility, giving me the opportunity to land another Veiled Strike. Depending on how well l can accumulate power it seems like the Ultimate of Consuming Darkness could lend itself to hitting a third Veiled Strike.

im not exactly sure that l would have enough stamina regen to do this, or even if Veiled Strike can be used after gaining invisibility from Consuming Darkness / Shadow Cloak
