Been working on leveling my archer and unlocked Bard shortly after the servers went down for the patch. Logged in to Quarrymill to see there was absolutely not a soul doing fates, some people turning in quests/missions/storyline and maybe some random people in town afk while in que, all while several fates were up and actually EXPIRED O.O. Popped in the random que and got a easy whole level (30 to 31) and noticed that according to the log it says you can collect the random bonus once daily? Seeing as how i wanted some drops closer to my level I went into a que for Huke's Manor (28) and noticed while the log claims exp and rewards scale (i assume this means for the daily bonus) I was getting 923 with rested in my Copperbell (was the random i got) and when i went to Huke's manor I was getting 1500 with rested.
So from what I gather doing the daily is definitely worth it and while doing a random que may give you faster pops, the exp doesn't seem to scale. So what I gather I got 70% of my level in the next instance without the bonus (this is considered with rested). According to Yoshi he claims dungeons in 2.1 will give better exp than Fates but I still recall getting 30-34 in less than 4 hours. I definitely see better exp in dungeons but you have to consider clear time its not all that much better? I suppose Ill need more research. Don't get me wrong, i do not miss the fate zergs and running in circles. Dungeons aren't exactly action packed but they are definitely a step up, I just don't feel that EVERYONE totally abandoning fates was really necessary unless everyone else was as tired as me of fate grinding.

Keep in mind, many people are probably on their higher level jobs to do the CT unlock, as well as trying out the Extreme primals/ultima, doing the story quest to unlock king moggle mog, unlocking the new hard mode dungeons/new dungeon, ect.
Heck I was waiting a hour for one fate to pop for the CT attunement. They said that's being fixed today, so other people wont have to wait as long.
That's pretty much what I did yesterday, was getting all my unlocks done (still need to do the story stuff)
Lower level fates are going to be empty for a bit.
I don't know about other people, but after I complete an instance a few times, I really have no desire to continue doing it. Of course, I don't blame the game for that; it's just something that I no longer enjoy doing. So while the change is great for people who do enjoy that playstyle, I find it every bit as mind numbing as doing FATE's for hours. When it comes down to it, I get bored easily while leveling, so having as many options as possible is what I prefer.
Doing the Daily is always worth it. I got into a Hala group, was getting 600 xp to 1200 xp per mob. Not to mention I received a nice bonus of 120k exp and also 2 player commendations. So was well worth it.
Fates are still there, I have found new life and FATE activity in the beast daily areas, moving them out of the traditional zones quite a bit. Groups Cor/Blue/Mor still keep on trucking mind you.
Quarrymill however which used to be an early staple has lost some of it's following, but in honest. When I am playing I do so for the enjoyment and I rather do a random dungeon than grind FATES for a couple of hours, especially now the commendations have been added and the cool prizes from them.
