FFXIV:ARR hasn't added anything new to the genre but I have fun with it. I even ranted that daily quests were being added but so far I haven't got super annoyed having to do them like I thought I would.
A game of the year doesn't mean it must be the most innovative else there would be few games that get eligible for voting.
But yes Age of Wushu was the most innovative tough open world pvp is not as popular as themepark games there's no arguing that so my vote goes to final fantasy xiv a realm reborn.
Been a while since I played an mmorpg for more than a few weeks, with this I payed 3/4 months!!
