Tbh there are dozens of absolutely worthless talents and primitive classes. Bard class is a joke - turn on a song that buffs group and do nothing else but run around, almost all mage abilities have cast times up to 5 seconds so can easily be interrupted, melee classes are almost useless in mass PvP, hunters do all dmg with one ability, healers are very generic with zero interesting mechanics.
There are 120 available classes and after many hours of testing and theoricrafting Ive yet to find a single one that I really liked.
Over in Korea the most popular build is Grim Reaper (Magic/death/calling). I think Xl games has re-balanced it but they used to 1 shot anyone. You have stealth, DOT's, and massive aoe abilities.
Is this the MMO savior and/or sandbox we've all been waiting for. Will it give veteran players an oldschool feel with updated graphics?
The answer is a resounding NO. This game is yet another WoW clone with slightly more emphasis on crafting/gathering/building. In ArcheAge you get to max level in 1 week then spend a month maxxing out your gear. Once that's finished there is no endgame to speak of other then PvP. Sound familiar? If you're waiting something different you're waiting for the wrong game.
I couldn't understand for the life of me why the hype died so fast, now I know. ArcheAge is more of the same. You can cashshop modern race car vehicles for mounts. Make Second Life coffee shops with starbucks symbols and much more that completely obliterates any and all immersion.
The combat is actually exactly like WoW minus two or three years; whereas, it's a carbon copy of WoW but less crisp with less abilities, less options and less PvP counters.
In short if you want another attempt at copy pasting WoW this might be the game for you. If you were hoping for anything else, skip this one.
Appreciate your opinion but I will play and judge for myself. Calling something a WoW clone is hyberbole at this point and bears no meaning as a classification to me. By its very definition every MMO after WoW is effectively a clone. That doesn't tell me anything specific about ArcheAge.
AA has definitely moved away from my vision of what it could be, but it still looks more interesting than everything else that is out to me.
To answer your question, the hype died simply because there was no more information (read: marketing) being distributed. For all intensive purposes Trion went dark on the whole matter which is curious but not concerning.
Unless they have changed the combat since I've last seen play sessions on Youtube it is hotbar / tabkey (which I prefer). WoW combat on shares the hotbar but its combat mechanic is different. Actually the are completely different to me. So I dont see the similiarities there.
The game still worth a try at least for the features it focuses on. Cant be worse than ARR IMO.

Well, maybe not every MMO, but unfortunately the ones responsible for bringing this game to the US market made a WoW clone and a blatant one at that, which hasn't done too well. After hearing that Trion was going to localize the game I lost much interest in it.

I don't understand how Trion simply localizing a game made you lose interest... Also, how is it a blatant wow clone? Is it cause it has basic features found in any MMO? Have you actually played it?
Anyways, folks whenever it comes out just give it a go and make your own assessment. Take the opinions of others with a grain of salt.

Any mage can oneshot with meteor crit, but you either have to do long cast or aoe in melee which makes mage very vulnerable. But archers can shoot from higher range then any other class attack reach, dont need to cast, and can shoot 6 times every second with each shot over 1k crit.

Trion has not had a great track record with their games, this is why I have lost interest based on that statement. I did not say AA was a WoW clone I said (please read more closely) they (Trion) made a blatant WoW clone.
I am sorry you do not understand that I lost interest in a game because the developer responsible for bringing it to the US has not proven to have a good track record with MMOs.
Well i sort of agree it is in fact a BETTER version of Wow and the graphics are not as good as shown in some videos but they are much better than Wow but so is every game.
One of my biggest peeves remains, yellow markers over npc heads,i cannot stand that in my game.It makes gaming nothing more than connect the dots, super linear hand holding,100% NOT what the term ROLE PLAYING stands for.
What AA will do is give the genre a bit of a different feel,VERY few games allow you to build boats/ships and sail them and combat on them.A giant sea creature like the KRAKEN will make for fun combat.I know it is zoned but having housing in a large open zone is again a better twist than what used to seeing.
Some will find hand gliding useful and fun.Bottom line is the game will finally deliver us a top 5 game in the MMORPG genre something that has been sorely missing since Vanguard. It will have everything you expect from guilds to housing, mounts, gliding, boating, pvp ect ect.

Originally posted by adderVXI Not that I doubt you, but how is it you came to this determination? Hello even if it's WoW with better gfx, housing, tree planting and gardening I'm in at this point...
Not saying you shouldn't play it. Just saying people that don't want another WoW clone shouldn't play it. Your summary is fairly accurate, though I think the combat is worse it's very similar.
haha you just said it "don't play it".
I think you mean people shouldn't expect a major change in direction from the current WOW clones but it is a MUCH better version for sure.Fact that Blizzard has made multi millions and not brought their game up to par is pure laziness and abusing their player base.I am sure Jake Song would love to have that kind of cash flow, imagine the quality of game then.

Do not skip this game. It's deeper than Star Wars: Galaxies was. And it's F2P. Try it for at least couple days - game become more dynamic and interesting when toon progress to new spells and get more craft rep.
edit: it's impossible to get to max level in a week (or two) unless you are unemployed and play it for 12+ hours daily.
well i played this game aswell on the korean version..
Payed for a sub as its needed to get all the stuff..
but
Its very linear questing.. i actually never got to the endgame of archeage because the leveling is boring..
got to level 41 think and then got bored..
But there is alot to do in archeage @ end level.... housing/sieging/pirating and so forth.. i think there is alot more to archeage that i experienced, wanne wait till the english version.. its hard to enjoy a game when you can't read everything
