I was a huge fanboy of SWTOR before launch, and subbed for 3 or 4 months after launch. I loved the combat, the story, the atmosphere, the crafting, the companions and generally had a really good time levelling a couple of characters.
I didnt really like all the cutscenes, but I could live with them
What drove me away was the static mobs. Sometimes you would look ahead of you and you could see 10 groups of the same 3 mobs just standing there, doing nothing, just waiting for someone to come along and attack them. Once you sussed out how to kill that particular 3 mob combination it became very repetitive very fast.
I have been thinking about coming back to the game now it is F2P, what with the addition of Makeb and Galactic Starfighter, but every time I think of it the memories of the static mobs just turn me off.
Have they fixed this yet, or is the world just as lifeless as before? Is it worth me returning?
What BS is this. This type of mob is the standard in mmorpgs. If this isn't your first mmorpg, you are just making issues out of nothing.

playing an MMORPG?"

Isn't that what people do here ?
well, we rode horses for a while...but then started experimenting with vehicles and stuff.
some were hoping that at the many millions invested in this one we'd...get a little more than what we already had. afterall why do we need another MMO that does what the others are already doing? we don't.
This game put all of it's development into the player story. I got the best story I've played in an mmo. Sadly that's all I got out of it.
I'd be embarrassed to post on a forum that static mobs is why I didn't like the game, and then give ff14 an 8. In my top 100 things wrong with swtor ....this wouldn't be on the list. It isn't the reason why this game is more of the same. It is just a minor little blip that the crazies have decided will be the bitch of the week.
You're welcome to try and blow more hot air into this balloon but I doubt you'll ever get it to fly.
mobs 'standing around' is something that can be easily hidden if they LOOK BUSY.
a guard standing around? okay, he's guarding. a guy with a shovel standing around? No, he better be digging something.
LOL its funny you should say that....here are some dudes in SWTOR i just came across with shovels....and guess what they are doing?...you guessed it....digging
is the hole getting bigger?
if not, theyre only PRETENDING to dig a hole, just like a modern worker would
theme park or social realism? its better, than sandbox, anyway
No offense, but every time I read one of your posts, it sounds like its being said out loud by William Shatner. Please learn how to properly use commas.
grammar has always been my weakest spot, even in my native language
as long, as people get the idea, i couldnt care less about it
and, if i sound like the great kirk, by doing so, more power to me

true, these are standard mobs, in that respect
but swtors mobs have more Health, than your average mob
it feels ,like they have added HP, to keep the player in game, for longer
instead , of adding more zones, and more mobs,, they padded the existing ones
it may be cheaper this way, maybe even more "realistic" too
but it soon got boring, to most of us
spending resources , on a standard mob, that is expected to drop dead , and give some loot?
or spending them , where people want this kind of stuff, endgame heroics?
just let us kids drink our coke, and you can keep your fine wine

WTF you all are old school hipsters here don't remember that poor mob scripts of game in 1990 wtf you're not happy with static mobs?. xD
But I agree it's immersion breaking and this adds a lot of uncomfortable feelings about the game also invisible wall and small maps is so sad.
I tired it when it when F2p it was uncomfortable to play restrictions every where BORING AS HELL I WANT THEM TO PAY ME FOR WASTED TIME.

but , it was VERY expensive too
it didnt do, as they hoped for
it didnt starve, as we predicted
they have a niche market, but they wanted more
so did we
