Hail and well met everyone,
I have decided to get back into the mmorpg scene and I need your help. Sadly, monthly fees are big no for me, but I am willing to purchase the game in order to play it.
So what am I looking for. I am looking for an mmorpg that would have good F2P model, plenty of content, great character creation and of course one that wouldn't be dying. Prefered thematics are sci-fi/fantasy, yet I am willing to keep my mind open.
Better than average WoW style combat is prefered, but not absolutely needed. I would appreciate if the game would be already released, betas are fine too though. If you have any more questions feel free to ask away. And seriously, thank you for helping me.

RIFT and SWTOR are free-to-play and have plenty of content, and despite what people may say, they aren't dying. RIFT is better with unique character customization, while SWTOR has a good selection of races to choose from, so they both have a decent amount of customization, nothing 'great'.
Both have decent F2P models, though RIFT gives you more for free (from what I noticed, anyway). Either way, $5 to SWTOR makes you Preferred which lifts several restrictions, and you can probably use the credits you earn in-game to buy most other unlocks.
RIFT has an interesting character build system - even though the combat is quite similar to WoW, the refreshing take on how classes are done actually gives each individual class a lot of versatility. RIFT recognizes a 'support' role separate from the holy trinity of heal/tank/dps, which is generally filled by certain builds that provide buffs, debuffs, or off-heals while doing some damage.
SWTOR is also like WoW in terms of combat, but has a few interesting mechanics. For example, some classes are based on alternate resource pools like the Scoundrel/Operative, who can heal using a modified energy pool that regenerates slower as you go below certain thresholds. In PVP, tanks are quite relevant which is a welcome change. When fighting normal mobs, most of your regular abilities also have alternate effects which gives the solo-questing a nice 'impact' feel, though these alternate effects won't fire against Strong mobs or tougher.
I think rift is probably going to be the game you're looking for. Star wars the old republic has a well documented crappy f2p model. I hear age of conans f2p model has improved a lot and could also be worth looking into.
Since when is Tuesday a direction?
Thanks for quick responses,
Regarding Tera, is it better to play on NA or EU as European? I just ask because Aion was better on NA even for Europeans.
I can't imagine it's as bad as Aion and I don't know anything about EU Tera but I do seem to recall a petition by EU Tera players for the NA publishers to take over the EU version so there may be something to that.
