Not just the devs are quiet. Look at the forum posts around here and some ESO posts, including headline articles, get a few posters and often fail to hit page 2. Only threads that seems to get any logevity are the ones where people are pointing out the issues and a discussion ensues.
I agree with the OP.
The lack of any real activity recently, good or bad, just makes me feel that people are just not that interested. You would expect some conversation to be taking place but the almost total silence...odd.
This is what I meant.
I mean, the game is out in 3-4 months. Usually, there are debates, controveries, fanboi vs hater wars... anything. Heck the EQ:N forum is more active and that game is still a long time before release!
How does the saying go... bad press is better than no press?
EQN forums are our fourth most active, actually. ESO is our #1 most active forum.

Who do you believe, my word or your own lying statistics! XD
Hm, ok. I take that as it is. But somehow I feel much more in the dark what to expect with ESO than with any previous MMO. There were constantly new videos surfacing, and with ESO... they make it a bit scarce. *shrug*

Thats probably because of your own lack of interest, there is enough information on the fansites, tough most of it is not linked here, and it requires you to do some googling to find those websites..
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
not sure why you feel they are being quiet , devs have given interviews and most of us that have been in previous beta's will be in this weekend as well for another beta test. This site is quiet because there hasnt been a beta test in a month. Expect the same trolls to show up to bash every thread on the forums here starting friday night.
First rule of thumb for any game not yet released. Be weary of the ones that keep the NDA in place to the last second. They do have something to hide. In this day and age...there is nothing proprietery being developed by MMORPG's that has not been done before. The only reason to have an NDA is because the game designer is not confident in their games design.
LOL That's great hear! I was going to PM you again
The really funny thing is I can just picture you dancing about with the video set on "11." Enjoy

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR

This all the way. Teala once again nails it.
ZOS is holding info about ESO so close the the chest that you would think they are the NSA.
Its a freaking Themepark MMO. What is so secret about the game that they must keep a NDA in affect 3 months from release?

Will be very interesting to see the tones of the boards change after this weekend. A few thousand people(my guess at least 5k on the N.A. side) have been invited. A full scale Euro invite also went out, so theyre now in on it as well. So a lot less conjecture and a little bit more of an informed opinion will start to be seen. If they have fixed a lot of stuff it might change the past beta testers opinions. But that still remains to be seen.
I am interested to see what has actually changed. Patch notes are typical patch notes. Will have to see how they actually appear in the game.
There is still 'silence' for the most part, but letting more people see the game is a step in a direction, whether it is the right or wrong one also remains to be seen and will be totally subjective.
Well if the game is that bad what stops any of this weekends beta testers breaking the silence or any of those who came before them? Would breaking the NDA to inform the gaming public about and potential scam... ie releasing an incomplete product be that bad especially if enough break the silence? What the hell could Zenimax really do? It seems enough invites went out this week for US and EU so they are at least showing the game to enough people for them to be on shaky ground if the game doesn't at least work, you know what a whiney bunch us gamers are.
Personally I only take an interest in a new MMO when I either get into beta or the NDA is lifted all else is whistling dixie.

Thats the point people ARE talking. But theyre always labeled as haters and "you dont kow what youre talking about because you havent played the game". When in fact they ARE the ones who have played in the betas.
But the NDA is a slippery slope with this game. A lot of stuff has been talked about (by Zenimax or specific developers in youtube vids)but what 'testers' can confirm or deny isnt black and white. So many are scared to go beyond the most generic topics.
Plus a lot of anti ESo topics have been getting completely deleted from this forum especially if they enter a grey area. While others are simply locked. So people dont know what to say or how to say it.
But come Friday everyone that has been invited will be able to post on the beta forums and read what has been going on there for as long as I have been doing the betas.
Its not doom and gloom it is recognizing the severe shortcomings with the game when you look at it from a neutral point of view. Nothing more nothing less.
Thats why I say it will be very interesting to see what has changed in the game and how people approach it, both new and old.
Personally I don't have high expectations for this game. I have most of the weekend available so I plan on pouring a lot of time into the stress test. If the game sucks I have Hearthstone beta and Elite: Dangerous coming out in March.

Or they can be overly confident and think they don't need to release every bit of info before hand because the product is just that good.
I've played some absolute gems with little to no info about the game. Not releasing information before release is no bad thing in my book.
I can pretty much guess what I'm going to get from this game already anyway. I Don't really need more information.

Sounds like a good plan. Hope for best, plan for the worst, and always have a backup game
Heh, interestingly I took a lot of flak on the Bethesda boards when I said I didn't think the game wouldn't launch in 2013 as was the initial release window.
The developers have said they're keeping a lot of things under wrap because they want players to find out things and not be told all before release (*cough* GW2 where I knew what my character build and progression was before release)

From what I've heard the game is way too unfinished to be able to hit its' release date.
