The ol' upgrade help
Motherboard, CPU, and Memory 3 or so years old.
Looking to upgrade is this a significant upgrade?

I would say the ram/mb cpu would possibly be worth upgrading as your existing ones are a little dated and may cause a bottleneck for that vid card in high cpu demanding games.
as to the parts you have selected I will leave that up to some of the more experienced builders on these forums I prefer intel over amd currently for cpu, I am unsure how well the cpu u have selected runs on a gaming rig, same with mb.
The psu u already have seems good enough form a quick search says its a bronze certified psu.
A case may possibly be worth looking into depending on the one u have (air flow, cable management, fan noise etc) specially if u were planning to oc.

The 900 series chipset just seems old now. Not to sure if you should go AMD at this point if they don't have a new CPU or chipset. Its been nearly 3 years since it was released, so something tells me it will be phased out soon. Considering you are upgrading to a system that for all intents and purposes is 3 years old it is not a good upgrade.
I would avoid AMD FX processors right now. If you want AMD wait for the Kaveri chips and new mobos to come out for those. The FX will not receive a refresh until atleast Q2 2015.
I would look into an Intel in your price range. I know people want to support AMD, but there is no point supporting AMD in an area they abandoned.
What you picked out looks good to me overall. I may go for a bit better motherboard myself. Even if it meant dropping down to a quad or 6 core cpu.
The new AMD Kaveri chips are APUs . Quizzical may can answer if there is a reason to go with the new APU instead of the Vishera CPU you picked out. For me I would grab that 6 or 8 core Vishera FX CPU.
Hopefully you are not using the stock cooler? If so drop $30 or so and buy a decent air cooler to go on that CPU.
Otherwise I think you are good to go.
I just built a system with the FX-8350 not that long ago. All I can say is that I didn't notice a huge performance difference between that and my 2500K or 3570K systems, not in gaming anyway. Seems to me that the real issue would be price or if you use apps that take advantage of more than 4 cores, video editing etc... If budget isn't an issue I'd just go intel, and go big (i7 4770K or 4930K).
On my 3570K machine I'm using the AMD 7950 and I haven't run into anything I couldn't max, then again, I don't game over 1080p on that machine. Hope that's helpful.
Don't bother with that "upgrade". The single-threaded performance of the FX CPUs is barely better than the processor you have. There aren't enough games to take advantage of 8-core CPUs yet, in my opinion.
If you really want a processor upgrade, get an unlocked Intel CPU and overclock. Ivy Bridge and Haswell are roughly the same when overclocking. Haswell uses a newer socket and may see a new line of CPUs with real performance gains over Ivy Bridge, but there is no guarantee of that.
