I have ordered an i5 4570s for its low power consumption, now I fear it may not be a good choice for gaming. It could be at 100% usage much of the time. So should I stick with it or swap it for something more suitable?

Yeah the overall performance of the "s" does look favorable compared to the others. Ok I think that's good advice, I'm going to stick with it.
Thanks for the reply.
Any desktop Haswell quad core processor will be basically equivalent in power consumption except under heavy load. The difference between the "normal", "S", and "T" versions is how high the chip will clock under heavy load--and thus, how much performance it will let you have if you need a lot of performance. If you're trying to build a shoebox-sized computer that can't dissipate very much heat, then maybe you want an "S" or "T" version to throttle it back so that the thing doesn't fry under heavy loads. Otherwise, just think of it as the "S" stands for "Slow".
Though if you are trying to build a very low power computer and want to play games on it, you're probably not going to have the power headroom for a discrete video card. Trying to play games on Intel integrated graphics will be hit and miss. In the unlikely event that that's what you're after, AMD's just-launched A8-7600 Kaveri chip will get you respectable enough gaming performance on integrated graphics in a TDP of 45 or 65 W. But that's unlikely to be appropriate to your needs
Also questions like this are best asked in the hardware section.
On another note, it's far better to ask for advice before making a purchase than it is to buy something random and then ask if it was a good idea. The answer to that is almost always "no". As you probably didn't buy a processor in isolation, it would be good to know what else you're looking at buying--or worse, just bought.
The main reason to put hardware threads in the hardware forum is that that's where it's more likely that people who actually know something about hardware will see it.

Quizzical may be a little blunt at times, but what he said to you is pretty much spot on. It may be wise to put your hurt feelings aside and actually heed the advice.
On topic tho- If you are looking into building a low power, SFF, HTPC, ect. then the CPU you bought would be great. If your building a full or mid tower full on gaming rig then you probably wanted the 4670k version.
Either way pair that CPU with a decent GPU and it will game just fine. If you want to keep the power use low then find an efficient GPU to pair it with and it will still game just fine. You may not be uber maxing out the new games coming out, but other than that I doubt you will have any complaints.
I read through it and thought WTF, still can't believe the guy had go at Quiz the way he did, hope he never needs advice again!

Well thanks for doing half a job at cleaning this thread up. Like it was me that was even rude to begin with. Essentially I get called incompetent by Quizzical because for some inexplicable reason he assumed I had picked any old components.
I said I had picked the 4570S for its low power consumption! It was not a random choice, can't you people read? What you think the only stat I looked at was the TDP?
My last build was years ago, the tech has moved on, it takes time to get re-acquainted, so shoot me for having second thoughts!
I agree with Quizzical. You basically bought a Volkswagon and you're asking why it isn't as fast as a Ferrari. The time to ask about what to buy is before you buy, not after.
If you have some goal in mind, maybe we can help get your system to where you're trying to get it.
Try not to be so sensitive about something posted on an internet forum. Its easy to read a post and take it as someone being an ass when in reality all they were trying to do was help. I agree it was blunt and to the point, but if you ever bother to read the hardware section then thats pretty much on par.
And no offense but why wouldnt he assume you had picked " any old components" when you picked a cpu that you yourself think may not be suitable? Why should he assume the rest of your picks were any better? Then you go on about how basically you have not built in years and are out of the loop. All this points to you needing some advice and help but being too proud and getting butt hurt when someone calls you out for making the mistake of buying 1st asking later.
Either way good luck to you If you actually would have put your hurt feelings aside and listed what you have bought or were gonna buy then you could have gotten some real good advice and maybe learned a thing or two.
You don't know what you're talking about.
Yes thank you so much. It is a powerfull looking CPU and not much slower than a stock 4670K on paper. Off the top of my head, it's about 500-800MHz difference.
Well you are accusing me of being something I'm not. Adding fuel to the fire in a sense.
