Everquest Next with his cartoony graphics will be no harm for TESO, Landmark is not a MMORPG just a Minecraft clone
Wildstar, I'm in beta from summer, after 10 levels I was bored to death, usual "fed-ex" quest, with fixed classes and all combat based on telegraphs (red/blue areas where skill activates). No harm for TESO
I know they set a release date. I was saying I would rather see them release sooner than the announced date than have a "lengthy" open beta or delay the game to make changes. And it is unrealistic to say those games will have no impact on ESO. I know this may come as a shock to some people here, but there are a lot of players who like more than one type of game. Many of them only have enough free time to play one at any given point in time. The more of a head start you get on capturing their attention, the more likely you are to get them early while the game is still in it's initial box sale + subscription revenue grab period.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.

I suppose anything could happen between now and then, but I anticipate being happier than I have been with any ES game since Daggerfall.

The game should be delayed at least a year. They need to re-design the world with naval exploration in mind. So you can get ships, have fishing boats, and explore. There doesn't need to be sea battles, as it really wasn't a big part of ES. Underwater exploration and underwater dungeons, similar to the DAOC TOA expansion. They also need to design the housing to be integrated with the game world. Small villages for players only littered across the map. Housing in and around cities and capitols. Instanced Inn housing as well as guild hall instanced housing. And do all of that while re-designing the world to be completely seemless.
As it stands, there is no housing, no water exploration and the zones are locked maps similar to the original EQ. Which means you can't run from one end of the world to the other. You can only run from one end of the zone map to the other.
Those are all things you can get from videos and articles by the way, so leave your NDA whining at the door.
I'll reiterate. Delay at least a year, as I'm sure those changes will take some serious time. I'm not even talking about open beta. I'm talking about completely re-designing the game world.
From what we have seen from the videos and press releases what they have now is solid enough what your lookign for sounds like what would be added in a up coming exansion If Zmax see and hears that people clamour for this pretty sure It on the burners to be done down the line.....$$$$ grab ESO dont wanna show the tata's for free now

You also have to be careful as releasing too soon can lead to your game being abandoned. Most games get one shot and never recover if they mess it up. AoC has had to work hard to climb back to a fraction of it's launch numbers after a shockingly bad launch.
Even open beta would be treated by many as a launch. Hell some people are treating the closed beta as such already.
However equally they have set a date, and this is a business, so equally on the flip side this is coming out on the 4th April ready or not...

So take a theme park game and make it a sand park. Sorry, it has never been advertised as a sand box in anyway. Also, the changes you think you want, would take more than a year to implement, re-test, and finally re-enter betas and such. By which time the investors will lose their collective minds and we will have yet another could have been game with ghost servers.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

Why do people allways want to play these games for free?
the game works as intended, and the number of bugs is fairly low...
if you played Skyrim and MMOs you know exactly what to expect from this game
watch the official videos ,,....
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I am replaying Skyrim right now and to me TESO is an improvement in some areas. Not to mention how empty it feels..
