They could, however, assign it to all three without having to own a collectors edition.

Sure, but then they would have to come up with something equally cool for the collector's edition, and people would just complain about that instead.  There is literally no way they could have handled in game bonuses that wouldn't have caused someone to complain.  Their only choice was which group to irritate.  Considering they are starting sub-only, the cheapskate crowd was probably a good choice.

I agree that people would have complained about in game bonuses no matter what they were. I don't agree that in game bonuses were required at all to sell a collectors edition. But assuming in game bonuses were important to them in order to sell more copies or whatever, giving an entire race in it seems extreme to me - especially considering that the game costs $60 and requires a sub.

We'll see how it all pans out, but I think there are going to be WAY more whiners than Zenimax was expecting with this move. If they had offered something cosmetic instead, like an in game cloak or armor set, I think overall people would have still been happy with the great lore book, the statue and the other stuff.

Just look closely at the picture, it even looks like a piece of armor and nothing more.  I'm feeling more and more positive this is just some cosmetic thing with a misleading description.

Here is the most important thing to remember though; if this follows the general trend of video game collector's editions in recent years, all the digital aspects will eventually be available by some other means, probably at a steep discount.  The Imperial Edition probably doesn't get the race (if it is a race and not armor) exclusively forever, it just gets exclusive access for an indeterminate period of time.

    Through strength, I gain power.

Through victory, my chains are broken.

Its a shame when people cant just wait for a game to come out, they have to data mine these leaks and try to ruin all the fun in letting the company announce it.   We truly live in the days of data mining where nothing on the internet is secret anymore.

    Are you serious?

Amazon posted this up to buy, there was no data mining, there was nothing even close to that...

I am saddened by how many people come in here commenting having no idea what they are talking about...

*Also, dear person (Neph something) who was going on about how 'real' gamers who are 31-50 have an income, it's time 'sink'. As in you are sinking time into something.  You can't go on about being so mature and adult and then completely misspell words and miss points entirely.

    Thank you that is all.
