Zombie spawn rate on Official Servers

I was wondering if someone could give me a little information on why the zombie spawn rates on the Official Servers are really low.  I have played the game for about 45 hours altogether and I've seen bandits, heroes, griefers, and noobs by the dozens.... 1 frickin zombie.  1 zombie.  Is there a setting that can change this on the server side?  Because I bought this for a Zombie survival game, not a PVP survival game (which is fine if they called it that).   The PVP and survival is fun but I feel the zombies are crap.  7 Days to Die has some RIDICULOUS zombie shenanigans going on, they tear through frickin walls and at night run at you in hoards of 10-20 like they were straight out of 48 Days Later.  I just want some reassurance that the zombie part can be ramped up or at least they have plans to.

 

If I can dance around and punch 2 zombies on me to death, then they are too easy for me.

    Amount of Zombies and Zombie respawn rate are turned down at the moment for better server stability,  It will be increased in time.

    ^ Also pretty sure it is because certain things to enable survival with more zombies are either still a bit glitchy or need to be put in ( camping stuff comes to mind because cities will be swarming with zombies so you need to rough it for the most part ).

    Honestly... DayZ is a rather poor game when it comes to wanting "Zombie Survival" its much more of a "Death Match FFA with Survival just there" deal. Stability is cited (as others point out) but in the end your just not likely to find a very good game if what you want a focus on to be is Zombie Survival. Blame it on part of the maturity of the player base. Unless it changes, I just don't see zombies ever being the real focus of games like this, just a mild distraction.

     

    Then again, perhaps some unofficial servers can fill that gap and try and find a way to make it more about the zombies?

    Depends on the server, some are more PVP others more PVE at least as far as the mod is concerned (people tend to band together when you get throngs of zombies coming out the woodwork, once in beta likely the standalone will be more of a balance of these in the official servers but for now zombies are less common because they are fucking powerful and you just do not have all the tools to deal with living in a world dominated by them as in contrast a world dominated by asshats yet).
