Many upcomming games forums are booming with discussions... yay vs nay... Good versus bad.. Just look at EQN or ESO, so much controversions...
but why are these boards of the most fun upcomming themepark silent as death?
is it the silence before the storm?

I may or may not have played this game and formed my opinions based on first hand beta experience or I may just be basing it on known information.
Ultimately my overall impression is this is a good game but not a great one - I can take it or leave it.
Maybe the silence we're hearing is the silent sigh of a million let-down hype balloons......pppfffffftttt.....like that......only silent.
Maybe because it is a boring MMO?
A mediocre game doesn't cause discussions or debates, just indifference.
Just a wild guess
The death knell of anything is indifference.
Or...and I may or may not have played this game and formed my own opinions based on first hand beta experience or I may just be praising it on no known information, but...
the game is still under NDA. Maybe most of the people who really, really, really, want to talk about this game don't because they are enjoying beta so much that they are honoring their agreement to keep quiet about it?
MY overall impression is that it is one of the most well-made MMOs to come out in recent years. Based, of course, on videos I've seen and not at all on any beta I may or may not have participated in.
Now that that's out of the way, to the OP: I think you aren't hearing a lot of discussion about Wildstar because, even though it gets a lot of hype on this site, and they've been very forthcoming in showing gameplay videos and in depth discussion about the game features, I think this game is flying under the radar a bit due to the tremendous amount of publicity that TESO is getting (positive and negative), as well as games like EQN and EQNL, which just started alpha and already removed the NDA restrictions.
People don't get as excited about classic themepark games as they used to. But when it's all said and done, this game will have its day in the sun. I believe it's going to have true staying power.

Yeah, because mediocre games like SWTOR never caused any discussion or debates. /rollseyes
Nice logic.
The game is under NDA,there is no release date for this game...the devs have not made any controversial statements for people to argue over, the publisher/developer has not made any controversial decisions in their game mechanics or business model at this stage that haven't been discussed.
Basically there nothing to grab onto and argue about about this game right now....that will probably change once we get a release date and we get nearer it,or the NDA lifts.

Oh, I beg to differ, sir. You want controversial? THEY SCALED BACK BOOB SIZE!!!!
/ragequit
SWTOR was a disaster on so many levels, it wasn't mediocre.
Worse it was disappointing for many players that hoped in a decent Star Wars MMO.
That's why there was so much controversy about the game.
With Wildstar though, there is nothing really bad to be said, but nothing too good either, that's the definition of indifference.
What?!?!? Those dastardly scoundrels!!!!
Well....of to wethepeople.com to start a petition to get the government to make them scale it back up!!!!!
There's plenty good to discuss. The difference is that the good stuff doesn't get discussed due to the NDA. You hear bad stuff all the time, regardless of NDA, because folks who don't care for the game and don't plan to play don't care about divulging that info. The fact that there isn't a lot of bad stuff being reported is a good sign.
Don't get me wrong, we'll hear PLENTY of bad stuff about this game from people who don't like the style (classic themepark) once NDA lifts. That's to be expected. But let's not assume indifference just because you aren't hearing much. Even the worst games have had plenty of discussions.
Problem is, i dont hear bad stuff right now... its utter silence, no beta breaches telling us how bad the game is...
And there is more information floating around the internet that could be discussed then from some games that been released a year ago...
If you saw the developer vids, you have a pretty good idea of what to expect, if you visited the fan sites, almost every of their great fresh ideas has been shown there..
And still none are discussing this... maybe this game is out of the scope of the vocal MMORPG.COm visitors...

I'm sure when a release date is announced. These boards will be filled with people claiming it will just be another fail themepark rpg / WoW clone. Just look at ESO already.

This pretty much sums up my feelings as well. There is one other thing i don't really like more than anything else and that's the visual pathing graphics of all skills on the ground.
Don't get me wrong, I will still buy the game and give it a shot as I always do, just not getting my hopes up really.
If i have learned one thing over the last ten years is to not base my opinion on streamings on the youtube... These dont add anything if youre not deep down involved with the actuall mechanics... because withouth deep knowledge of the game you have no clue what is happening in those streaming videos.

Youtube existed 10 years ago?
I watched a Twitch stream before SWTOR came out. What kept me interested was the different choices in the dialogue. That's the feature I enjoyed most out of SWTOR.
On a game mechanics stand point how ever. I find it boring watching some one else play no matter the game. It is some thing you have to experience for yourself to enjoy.
The only videos I've really enjoyed watching about Wildstar are the entertaining and informative ones. Not to mention showing off the features of the game rather than the combat and mechanics.

Wildstar has new IP, so there's no pre-existing die hard fanbase criticizing every move the developer makes, which does not correspond to their vision of the game.
Also, the game has no controversy in general. NDA is up, but there's lot of info about the game. All the game systems, including business model look logical and reasonable, so there's little room for trolling. People are very positive and constructive, so there's no reason to spam new threads day and night like in other game forums.
Maybe because the MMO community has been burned a few times by all hype and no substance releases (talking about you EA) that we are waiting for an open beta to withhold judgement. Unless you are die hard fan of an IP, and you can't be for Wildstar since it is new, it is silly to preorder an MMO before you try it out.
Since Wildstar is couple of months away, and TESO is around the corner, you figure that TESO will take the spotlight until April, then the full on push for Wildstar will begin.
I still expect wildstar to release before TESO..
it still says first quarter of 2014...
dont know if they are selling boxes, but this could be the first digitally only sold MMO of AAA level...

There is nothing new to discuss and there is no immediate release date, that doesn't mean that people aren't anxiously waiting to play this game.
ESO forums are just blowing up at the moment thanks to some stupid decisions from Zenimax, before that it was pretty quiet except for beta weekends when people would come here and trash / defend the game.
Wildstar players have been pretty good with the NDA comparatively, but I guess that's because its a solid title. The only real complaints I see get aimed at it are about its appearance.
I doubt that, there's no way that they would launch the game with less than 3 months notice to build hype and pre-orders up.
