I found a nice mmorpg developped by formed guys from AC team. It's still in alpha stage and graphisms are just average, but it has more content than some released game and it is totally free. it's a pure sandbox with nothing handed to you and half of the content is well hidden. I was quite lost during the first hour. But if you are an old fart from the past, you should love it^^
You can even play as a cow

I played it the last week and must say, damn did I miss the feeling of standing in a town and thinking "where the hell is that npc?". Nearly every game I played for the last years had a quest icon, waypoints or map icons of some sort, not this one. You get hints from quest givers, if you are lucky, and have to write stuff down (there is an ingame notepad) because some npcs dont like to repeat themselves. Reading what an npc says and liking it was also something I didnt do in a long time. Even the stuff npcs say to each other is funny.
You get your basic unarmed, sword and archery from the start more or less but some skills are quite hard to obtain because first you have to gain favor with an npc by giving gifts or doing quests (not that many per npc) for them.
The combo system is also something different imo. You go to a shrine/pilar and/or craft them and can get daily or specific combos which have special effects like aoe dmg, self heal, double dmg on last combo hit and other stuff.
Another thing that I like are the items. It isn't the normal +100 str +50vit thing but they add healing, de-/buff procs to skills and much more.
The game also tries to get you roleplaying, optional ofc. For example, my character had a "buff" that said "for the next hour you cant see the color green" or " you think others are trying to make fun of you with everything they say but wont admit it". They dont have any ingame effects (you still see green armor) but it is a way to encourage roleplay.
I guess cow, deer, pig and werewolf forms were mentioned before
TL;DR
If you look for something different, an old school kind of game and dont care about graphic then try it. People are nice and help you out if you need something, if they can.
Hint: create a mule character, park it in the city. Storage is kind of a problem atm because every item has its use, even when it says vendor trash.
