very cool, however there better be craftable boats and ridable horses ( or even machines ) otherwise this is going to be one boring ass mmo. i mean the world is HUGE. having to walk from Canada to Argentina would take you years....

Also if there is no pvp there better be some really interesting AI as far a NPCs go. nothing worse than a HUGE world that's mostly empty with only very stupid animals here and there.

also i would rather they had pve servers and pvp servers and let player choose their adventure.

    Still i'm very intrigued.

why is noone mentioning that point and click adventure gameplay they showed, who will play survival game of that sort, those survival gamers are used to fps type game, not point and click adventure , where is promised action?  who give a fuck how much they will map, they will never get close to mapping more than 10% because game like this will never fly

So that means the game will be mostly a grinding game to find food and water with no real exploration or story to follow or missions....in other words I think watching paint dry or water boil will be more fun as I will actually be accomplishing something.

Sorry the concept of useless micro management makes me not want to play....the world being mapped to scale sounds neat.....but the micromanagement interfering with exploration or fighting or actually playing and having fun....just doesn't sit well with me.

You don't have any idea how they would implement it or how much of  a grind it would, why the panic?

cool concept. while it's likely this will never see the light of day in their current imagining of the game, they are off to an interesting start.

148 million km^2 of land mass on the earth, good luck mapping that 1 km^2 at a time.  Interesting concept but a complete and utter marketing ploy.

You'll need to buy food and water from the cash shop, of course! :)

I've gotten a few of my unity 3Dmaps which used a procedurally generated system up to 400km which equals around 248.548 miles. I can go bigger but glad to see developers pushing it, I enjoy these types of videos.

Lol "required to eat sleep and get exercise."?

Forget it. I already have a "game" like that.

    It's called "Real Life"

Isn't the whole world already map'd via satellite? Details data should available. I know the military has accurate maps and I can go to the book store and buy maps that have all the topography. I would assume some sort of engine could take this known data and build it. Doesn't seem to difficult of task.

They're just looking for people to fund their vacations.

Overly ambitious, to say the least.

In 1999 or 2000 I remember a computer presented at "Salon du Bourget" near Paris used for high tech aviation research. You can travel around the world with a very high definition of the Earth structure. It only needed to add 3D objects on the map for have a full Earth (and create a game ? :P)

You have to indicate the location on the 3d world map with a lazer then the presentator zoomed (with a N64 pad WTF!) and traveled like a bird who came from space for reach the exact point you want. Very very impressiv !

I'll search more about it but I can't remember the name T.T (orion, h²o, dunno ^^")

Not if people give them a bunch of money.
