Guild Wars 2's Structured PvP, not the RvR one. Everyone has the same amount of skill points and gear stats. The outcome of the battle depends on your choice of skill & gear set, your playing skill and teamwork.

The MMO "veterans" can say whatever they want but when it comes to competitiveness, MOBAs are better over MMOs any day. They require twitch gameplay on an entirely new level and require tons of more strategical and tactical awareness and thinking. There is no way you can even talk about MMO pvp just because they have more than 5v5. There is a reason the MOBAs are crazy in esports and players get actual wages with sponsors lining up for players and teams unlike MMO pvp.

    some like chess.

all the pieces are on the table, you know what each piece does...what you do with them is entirely skill-based without requiring twitch reflexes.

twitch reflexes are why esports are sports. you need a bit of physical shape to keep 300 APM over 30 minutes...they're harcore and competitive but they're not for everyone.

you'll find there's a side of MMO players that wants turn-based pvp. why? no twitch. just brain.

We are talking about Competitive PvP, that's why i said MOBAs. And you seem to be only focused on the twitch part of my post. Games like Dota require a lot more of the brains as well, much more than a MMO. Have you ever wondered why there is an entire picking phase when you play at the top level. It's not for flexing your reflexes. Games can be lost and won just in those 10 mins. Even after you are out of it, You need to have complete map awareness as well as a psychological awareness of your opponent and an idea of the tactics they can employ. You can't just go into a MOBA boasting a 300APM reflex.

Also, you can't compare a Real time game with a Turn based, that's just out of the question.

you're making a lot of statements about what I'm doing vs what I can and can not do.

your only support for those claims was group comp, a concept fully present in competitive MMO PVP. And in open pvp also. I've seen eve fights won at 30 v 100. I've seen a rogue solo a 3-man team. It's all there if you focus on the group not on te individual. your perspective limits your view considerably.

a competitive pvp team is greatly dependent on make-up just as a MOBA team is. Let it be a WoW arena, or an EVE Alliance Tournament...

Put a high skilled player against 3 average skilled player and he will win. Put him against 3 high skilled players and his chance to win becomes negligible. I too see people while being outnumbered win matches. That is the skill difference at work there. I don't see how that is relevant to competitiveness in pvp.

There are many mathematical systems for doing that, the most famous/long lasting is the ELO system used in chess.

And many has shown to work (in the sense that if you match up "even" players, if you look at actual games played, the win-lose chance is 50-50).

If you just want competition, they are close enough to MMOs. Heck, websites like this one even classifies it as such.

    Please stop this nonsense.
