Last week I posted a thread asking for some help on building a PC that will be able to handle modern MMOs, and specifically ESO when it comes out.
What I have so far:

I understand that the A10-7850k is only an APU but from what I've researched the built in GPU seems to be pretty promising. I plan to upgrade to a discreet GPU in the future.
Also I'd like to stay under $550.

Dude this can't even even deliver 30FPS on medium Bioshock Infinite at 1080P. That's BS.
Go here http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc and create a thread. I have seen several people post PC specs which are as powerful as PS4 for under $600 during some PC vs PS4 price/performance threads. I am in no way saying that PS4 level is good but because you have budget constraints you can atleast get to that for starters.
Found this also in the same sub.

That's a damn good spec for $650. All i am saying is these guys are good at optimising the money you spend on parts so ask them. You can easily get a good CPU+GPU deal at $550 instead of going for the APU (i think that's what they call em).
Going with an APU to save money is only any good if it saves you money. AMD has priced their Kaveri chips such that it really doesn't. For that price, you might as well get a discrete video card:

The CPU probably has a lot of overclocking headroom, too, considering that it's only 3.8 GHz and the top bin is 4.4 GHz.
That does add up to a little more before the rebate, but you can make it up by getting cheaper memory since you don't need to feed integrated graphics from system memory.
Why would you recommend an Athlon when just for $30 more, he can get a 6 cored FX-6300..

If budget is that much of an issue he can even get a FX-4130. I mean, athlons are quite old.

That is a Richland based chip, which unless I am mistaken launched last summer ( 2013). Its basically the same chip as the richland APU just without the integrated graphics.
$30 more on a $550 budget is actually pretty big. Your already tight as can be at $550 just getting a system that will game.
As jdnewell said, that's a Richland chip, which just launched last year. While AMD has sold a variety of processors under the Athlon brand name going all the way back to 1999, since about 2008, it has been their brand name for their lower end chips. The top bin of the same chip is the A10-6800. If the GPU doesn't work, then AMD disables it and sells it under the Athlon brand name rather than throwing it in the garbage.
That the top bin is 4.1 GHz base with turbo up to 4.4 GHz and also has a TDP of 100 W that includes the GPU means that it is highly probable that an Athlon X4 760K has a lot of overclocking headroom (e.g., to 4.4 GHz) while staying inside of 100 W.
As jdnewell also said, $30 is a lot on a $550 budget. I'll add that the refreshed Piledriver cores that went into Richland tend to be able to clock higher than the original Piledriver cores that went into Vishera. There's also a difference between Socket AM3+ and Socket FM2.
