Game Questions

I haven't played beta so forgive me if my scope isn't as wide as the rest of you, but I don't want you to break the NDA by answering any of these questions. I don't have any MMO experience other than GW2 (not much of that at all) but I have played and enjoy the elder scrolls games. Please point me to any articles that give insight to the questions below if you can:

1) What upgrades did they do for spell crafting, like can you sell spells you make? Are there any differences in how they work when you fight monsters and players?

2) When discovering alchemy potions are there any level restrictions on the recipes you make, or can you pretty much just google them?

3) I read that you have to summon your horse. Does this mean that warriors will need larger magicka pools to cast better horses? What school of magic is this?

4) I was thinking of playing with friends and I would make a mercantile character to sell the goods we gather on our adventures. I am planning on doing it for other players and maybe charge 10% or something for my service. Do you think I could survive in a group if I dedicate about 1/2 of my skill to like daggers and stealth, and 1/2 to mercantile and speechcraft? I'm just worried about how much combat I will face. I had planned on mostly raiding dungeons and keeping combat to a minimum.

5) If I steal from merchants in town, will other players be able to kill me or just guards (I know this is a pvp game but just wondered to be 100% sure) Can you steal from players too?

6) If I kill a merchant in town, does it disappear only for me or everyone else? How long before they come back (if they do)?

7) Will there be secret hideouts for people with low reputation to sell things, like a brigand camp?

8) Do you know if there are ways to sneak into town past guards like holes in the wall and sewers?

9) Will there be striders like in Morrowind? Will there be ships? Will they make you appear at the location "instantly" like in the single player games or will you see them walking around / sailing around?

10) Do not break the NDA but have they mentioned if there are any secret underwater cities or dungeons other than the standard shipwrecks and ruins that we saw in Skyrim? If there are, the first character I'm making is an Argonian and going exploring :D

11) How are the houses and estates handled? Are there a limited number? Is it possible to grow alchemy reagents in them?

12) If there is a book on a shelf that I want to take, will my friends have to wait for another one to appear? Or do I see a book, they see their own book, etc? I used to collect all the books in Skyrim and put them in my house and want to do the same for Elder Scrolls Online, but my friends plan to do the same...

13) I did not do a whole lot of quests in Skyrim but was able to go places and do things anyway. In GW2 I often had situations where I could not go into a place at all unless I was doing a specific quest. Can I just start playing this game and exploring, or will I have to do quests to open doors, dungeons, etc?

14) GW2 did holiday stuff like make it snow in the cities. Do you know if they will do this in the Elder Scrolls Online? How will it work in places where it doesn't snow? Probably a really stupid sounding question but I'm curious if they've mentioned it.

15) In Oblivion one of my character had a lot of athletics and acrobatics and was able to jump from high walls, off of water, all over the place. Have people talked about how important this will be on PVP? Do you guys see people investing a lot of skill in speed, jumping, and reduced fall damage? Or just combat brute force?

Sorry I don't want you to break the NDA you signed. I just wanted to see if there are articles or interviews? I've read some but I'm having some problems finding these answers.

Start with the Development FAQ here: http://tamrielfoundry.com/development-faq/

After that go to their support KB: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/home?region=US

Their knowledge base search works well and you'll find a lot of stuff there many people still assume is under NDA

I almost feel as if this is a troll post... Not played the beta and sounds like not even paid a bit of attention to any information.

    1 ) No spellcrafting.

    2 ) Dont know.

3 ) I am not aware if any game requires mana to summon a horse outside of WoWs Paladin Charger which could have been changed by now.

    4 ) Wow.

5 ) Nope all the way around. No thievery of any kind was confirmed a long time ago.

    6 ) Ugh.

7 ) Dont know. Yet to be seen since not all group affiliations are in.

8 ) Why would you want to?

9 ) AFAIK there is only personal transportation like horses.

10 ) Confirmed awhile ago to have no underwater content.

11 ) Wow. Also confirmed. No housing till sometime after launch and maybe never.

12 ) There have been Dev blogs / videos about skill / lorebooks.

    13 ) NDA

14 ) Game isnt even out yet so how can anyone know how they will handle this?

    15 ) Sheesh

Most of these can be answered just by going to the ESO website and reading and watching the videos.

    1) What upgrades did they do for spell crafting, like can you sell spells you make? Are there any differences in how they work when you fight monsters and players?  Selling Spells?

Not sure if that's what you meant but no to that.

    2) When discovering alchemy potions are there any level restrictions on the recipes you make, or can you pretty much just google them?

    NDA

    3) I read that you have to summon your horse. Does this mean that warriors will need larger magicka pools to cast better horses? What school of magic is this?

No ES game requires mana to summon a horse.

No mercantile/speech craft but there are non-vendor/selling based... stuff.... dang it.. NDA

    5) If I steal from merchants in town, will other players be able to kill me or just guards (I know this is a pvp game but just wondered to be 100% sure) Can you steal from players too?

PVP and PVE sections are seperate, STEALING (item ownership) is not in game yet but will release after launch sometime with the crime system, thieves guild, and dark brotherhood.

    6) If I kill a merchant in town, does it disappear only for me or everyone else? How long before they come back (if they do)?

Let's pretend you said outside of town.... and ... NDA

    7) Will there be secret hideouts for people with low reputation to sell things, like a brigand camp?

    See #4 about upcoming guilds

    8) Do you know if there are ways to sneak into town past guards like holes in the wall and sewers?

See #4 but if someone where to case the joint so to speak, one might notice places to go once implemented.

    9) Will there be striders like in Morrowind? Will there be ships? Will they make you appear at the location "instantly" like in the single player games or will you see them walking around / sailing around?

    NDA

    10) Do not break the NDA but have they mentioned if there are any secret underwater cities or dungeons other than the standard shipwrecks and ruins that we saw in Skyrim? If there are, the first character I'm making is an Argonian and going exploring :D

No underwater on launch (god I don't need even more to explore man, ya killin me)

    11) How are the houses and estates handled? Are there a limited number? Is it possible to grow alchemy reagents in them?

Housing is after launch too so IDK on the Alchemy.  Going to be some really sweat stuff in the year after launch. By then you should have a really sweet nest egg set away to get some sweet digs.

Ha, this is public info!  So you don't take the book, it actually goes into a lore journal, that way you can both tag it and read it later when you complete sets of them.

Hmm, starting area is much like that in the sense you have to get that quest series done before getting neck deep in the meaty part of the game, I say hit everything you can and by level 7-10 it opens up drastically, also combat skills or spells are make combat more fun when you aren't just using one.  I also presume you mean entire areas and not the half crazed skooma addict or whatever has locked himself someones basement, find a way to get him out. (not a real quest.. just making up stuff for the example)

    14) GW2 did holiday stuff like make it snow in the cities. Do you know if they will do this in the Elder Scrolls Online? How will it work in places where it doesn't snow? Probably a really stupid sounding question but I'm curious if they've mentioned it.

Nope, they may have there own regional festivals, not sure what we have to work with lore-wise, but you better not expect Santa Claus.  image

Those 2 skills themselves don't exist in this game (again see #4 as anything is possible with those)... but some of the skills allow you to do cool flippy things... other than dodge, which you can do. ... I give up on this one I can't even begin to explain what I mean, sorry.

Mostly Iselin's post points you to better descriptions than mine... mine kinda suck.
