New to MMORPG

World of Wacraft I heard was amazing.  The box price is 50 plus 15 a month.  I would probably love the game.  My friend is now addicted to playing eve.  The new 14 day trial is going on so i may try that.  I am very tempted to get guild wars.  Now i hear it is not a "real" mmo and it really isnt worth it.  Tell me, what do you guys thing?

WOW is very fun and user friendly. I highly recomend it. Very soloable.

Eve is also good but be prepared to sink alot of time in it if you want to get anything done.

Wether or not Guild Wars is a mmorpg depends on your definition of the label. Frankly, it doesn't matter. It's a very fun game if you are into pvp and like to socialize. You get to meet alot of new and interesting people and kill them. A good time is had by all.

If I had to list them in the order that I would play them it would be thusly:

    1. WOW (cause I like to solo alot)

    2. Guild Wars (a very close second)

    3. Eve online. Not really my cup of tea. I like alot of action and don't have a whole lot of time to spend on a single game but still a very worthy game in it's own right.

Yeah... If your dedicated to paying monthly and have time for it WoW is a great game. If not Guild Wars looks good and its free.

EVE is a good game but it's not a good introduction to someone new to the MMOG genre. Steepest learning curve I've ever experienced in a MMOG. The fact that you have a friend that plays may help you a great deal...a good candidate.

Guild Wars is a great game to play, but it's not a classic MMOG like most of the rest you'll see listed at this site. Worth getting, but it will give you the wrong impression.

World of Warcraft is an excellent beginners game. It's got a very low learning curve and plenty of things to keep you active. Playing WoW will introduce you to practically everything MMOG, and then the further experiences you have in the genre will be explorations of deeper play.

I would recommend you get WoW and GW both, because they are entirely different kinds of games. Play them for a few months, and then try out EVE.

Guild wars would probably be a good starter mmo/rpg.

But that's just an opinion. My first mmo was Star Wars Galaxies, that was pretty tough to get used to.

Now that I play WoW, I'm awesome at PvP because I learned on SWG. It almost makes every one else who plays look like a retard.

Yes, monthly fees suck. And with all those cool games coming soon I can easily see myself chalking out $45-60 a month to play 'em all... (sigh)
