I'm an avid MMORPG fan. Unfortunatly, I'm stuck with AOL and a dial-up connection. I have been using WinGet to "attempt" to accelerate downloads. Clicking on the file and using the average Windows thing is actually only about 5 minutes slower.
So what would you guys reccomend to accelerate my downloads? I had DAP (download accelerator plus) and it sucked, full of adware, gave me trojan (or some virus, MA-AFREE deleted it) and it wasn't accelerated at all. Also tried FlashGet. And sucked too. Slowed down my download so that I could browse internet even when I wasn't doing anything online.
So what I need is a free download accelerator that is good for downloading MMORPGs.
Or is this bittorrent thing good? Free? Can u explain it to me if it is and name a good one?
BTW: I have WIN XP (if that matters.....)

Sorry to hear that you are stuck with AOL.
Your connection speed can not be increased by programs like speed boosters.
Bittorrent is a P2P program used for downloading large files off other peoples' PCs. It would run slow on your connection speed.
I am sorry due to the lack of help I can give. I know Dial up is the worst thing since Watergate. Good luck.

1.) I've done it!!!!!! I found an excellent download accelerator! It works on my PC and has actually increased my download speed over dial-up! I got it from download.com search for "fresh downloader" It works great and actually integrates into AOL. Improved my kb/s by 6! I'll have ROSE Online by tonight!
2.) I know this is waaaaaaaay off topic but it IS the off topic forum... I wondered if there was a free program anywhere that could be used to make a cartoon online. Like where I could draw the things and then maybe just alter the image to make it "animated" or something. I know about Macromedia Flash but I don't have 500 bucks nor can I understand the program (tried it at school). If anyone knows please post.
And if you are stuck with dial-up try Fresh Downloader. NO ADWARE or SPYWARE like most of the accelerators and it works!
Last time I checked, Gimp 2.0 had a .gif animator. Check it out.

Use this, its a pretty quick download and very simple to use, just click internet type and then optimal settings, reboot.
For simple browsing and downloading, I think that firefox is best. It even works well on slow 56k according to others.
A really good gif animator/ Image editor/ whole buch of other stuff. www.neosoftware.com. Download the 30day trail and then go to seriall.com and get a CD key and get the entire 50$ program for free
