The important factor here is the fact that 3000 people believed enough in the "idea" presented to offer over $400,000 to have it implemented. They did this knowing that the delivery was by no means certain but believed enough in the concept to back it.
To me this indicates that there is a market for the concept.
It probably means that to a handful of other people who are extremely bad at math, too.
