Hey there! I have been hyped about ArcheAge for a while and have been since doing some research on it, and haven't really found a solid answer.
I understand ArcheAge isn't going to be like Guild Wars 2 (in the sense of the whole 'Living World' aspect), but I was wondering if it is a persistent world, with changes throughout the map or live events (for example, can a town get taken over one day, and then be prosperous the next?).
My apologies for the stupid question!!

Archeage's sandbox parts are sorta like a living world. Players can build towns and castles on the third continent. During a siege a castle town can be destroyed into nothing.
With players building farms and growing livestock, tress or veggies, the landscape is constantly changing.

AS for an event system, yes Archeage does have that as well. Their event system is exactly like Rifts from Rift.
A Rift spawns and enemies come out.

Unfortunately enemies just wander around and gank players, they don't take over cities or settlements.
AA also has region wide events. Regions wide events are exactly the same as the zone events in rifts. Only difference is if your guild can get guild bonuses completing them.
