Anyone here play beta and crashed a lot? Any remedy?

zwei2zwei2 Member Posts: 361

As title says. I am playing this week's beta, and the game has been crashing left and right, as well as frequent error 200 and timeout. I had set the visual to the minimum, so I am checking anyone also faces the same issue for this or the past betas, and whether there are any suitable remedy possible, short of changing a new PC.

Been having same issues as well. I think they are just having server problems is all.

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt & just playing something else this weekend. Will start back up next beta test

    2. Zone chat doesnt' work

    3. Can't interact with any NPCs - other players on screen become frozen

Then you get kicked - and get a 316 error, followed by 201

Then works for a minute - then happens again.

It's been solid earlier like I said - but now it's fubared. That's what beta weekends are for - find the server bugs.

I do realize this happens during heavy player load like Sat nights. This is quite distressing, especially when the game is one month away from going gold. Hope the issue is iron out by then.

It's an issue that's been recognized. This is from the devs on the beta froum:

We are currently investigating issues on our test servers with logging in and server disconnects. Thank you for your patience as we work on a fix.

Yes they are stresstesting the servers, not the client

To the OP, try installing optimized drivers, mostly crashing is related to driver issues...

There are some people mostly with AMD hardware that indeed have crashproblems all over the place, could be that AMD has not updated their driver sets yet... also there are a lot of underperforming systems with AMD CPU´s   ............  Just something i noticed when i browsed the technical pages of the beta boards..

For me, everything has been like rolling on wheels... and i do have an AMD GPU 7990M combined with an i7

i played last beta and had ZERO issues like this.

I played yesterday until 3am PST and again, ZERO issues.  Suddenly today, i login around 7-8pm PST and i start having login issues immediately.  Apparently they made a server announcement earlier today regarding some testing...

Clearly today was unique and most likely attributed to engineering dabling in various things.  Im not saying there werent real problems, but it truly did seem isolated in the grand scheme.  Oh well, time for bed... looking forward to playing the latest version on launch. (Not looking forward to re-rolling my toon lol)

And I was one of them :-) They have posted other acknowledgement messages in the various sections, but as people charge on the forum to announce that they cannot get in or have been kicked, these get overwhelmed pretty quickly.

One "cannot get in post" was started around 35 minutes ago, it's now 22 pages...for a beta stress test :-)

It was fine all day yesterday but it has been bad for the past few hours.

Haven't seen it this bad for disconnects in any previous beta weekend. It seems like a severe connectivity issue on their end -- bad enough that it even made me think a DDOS might be in play.

I think Zenimax is intentionally stresses the server big time to test its limit .

The last 3 (or 4 i forgot) Beta weekend was too smooth for "beta".

...... It is not a driver issue. If it were a driver issue it wouldn't have suddenly started happening yesterday at x oclock.

No not this. They've put a red banner in their forums saying they're investigating. It first started a few hours ago, was fine for about an hour and it's back again. This one isn't an intended stress.

ZOS admitted they have issues. Stop blaming the players!

Agreed, glad for this beta that they have time to fix this before opening day.

Wikileaks have just informed me that they suspect it's Carbine Studios as no one is talking about Wildstar

I agree that this is not the peak time - so this is not stress/load related.

I doubt that it's DDOS simply because of the amount of bandwidth it would take to actually affect their service - you'd have to generate more than 20Gbs of traffic to saturate their links to Level3 and ATT.

I think their total connectivity is probably 40Gbs+ but it's possible if it's just a ton of tiny packets (if their edge can't deal with packets per second received)  or the attackers are using some kind of a known exploit (half closed connections etc...)

It could be an issue with front-side load balancers too - or whatever edge/proxy servers they have that talk to the backend game servers making up the "megaserver".

You either sound really educated or completely full of bs. Lol Had to say something. ;)

May want to give that a few minutes, the problems have been ongoing for at least 6 hours.

There was an earlier announcement of "all is well" just before the login server crashed completely, lol

I ran a dungeon just fine during that previous "all is well" period  about 4 hours ago :)

    Still fine now

This is just highly unlikely at 1:00am central time - their operations team is in Texas, they are not going to be doing anything at this time.

    This is an unexpected issue.

Maybe it is waves of European and Asian gamers causing the lag.
