Do you believe Turbine will actually make the August release date??

I am hopefull but admittedly a little skeptical as so few games seem to hit their original release date.  And no, this isn't a bash, I happen to think Turbine rocks.  Heck I just renewed my AC account after getting bored with WoW.

Where on earth did you get word of an August release? Even EB doesn't have it coming out until November, and I suspect that christmas would be a safer bet.

I'm pretty sure they are referring to the release date here on mmorpg.com. image

Yes, I am referring to the date shown here (MMORPG.COM).  I was unaware of EB's date.

As far as I'm concerned, they can take as long as they want. And they should. Because if this game sucks Turbine is getting burned to the ground. I mean business. ::::40::

    do it to it

Have put in to Beta the game and still no word, so IMHO i doubt Aug is viable except for the Beta testing. Would like to see this game tested and done right ! I dont care if it comes out same time as Star Trek Online 2007 just as long as ITS a fully functioning non SWG 2 year LIVE BETA !

Only thing that I have heard that the release is sometime in Forth Quarter!

You wake up and underneath the tree is a square looking box. You open and and much to your surprise is underwear. "What the Hell," you screem out! I asked Santa for DDO and I get Dungeons and Dragons underwear. When you are about to pull your sword from its sheath you start hearing a familar music. As you get up and run to the computer your eyes get wide with anticipation!

I highly doubt it.  Beta haven't started yet....  My best bet is OCT-NOV for a release.

I do hope that it makes the August release but I don't think that it will. I do agree with the earlier post that they need to take as much time as they need to get it right. I played Asherons for years and I know that they can put out quality stuff. I tried Anarchy when it first came out and the problems really pissed me off. I threw the game away and refuse to play it. I would hate to buy the game (I am also getting a new computer to play it) and have it really suck. Get it right even if it takes longer to get it out.

Actually this is a very good way to put it, but they shouldnt have their gamers waiting, the longer they wait the better the gamers will assume it to be, I see this as a last chance for Turbine Entertainment.

Several interviews, previews and comments from Turbine corporate from prior to E3 and at E3 itself indicated the release date tentatively is Nov-Dec 2005.

The question really is "Do you think mmorpg.com will update their date?"

Heh, can't say as I blame the site for not rushing to change it's date.  If they did that for every game every time someone made a statement, they'd have time for little else.  Or in other words, be as busy as the Mourning complaint department.image

it is a mmo so it is really up to them.  I mean, mmo gets update and all most of the time.  All I care is that they should fix all major bugs and most of the bugs first and get the server working well before release it.  It will make a lot of ppl happy:D

Lol, now i could be wrong (and i don't doubt that someone would tell me if i was) but i haven't heard of any MMORPG's making the release date, and if it does think of how many buggs it would have, i cant even imagine what it would be like at launch.

I'm betting second quarter 2006 at the earliest.  There's still way too many unfinished areas and if an MMORPG company says Augest the really mean July of the next year.

Their own website says: "When will DDO be released? No announcement regarding a ship date has been made, though we are currently on schedule for release in the second half of 2005."

Which means, it could come out in '05, or it could come out later. They're being wisely noncommittal.

You can't go by EB or MMORPG.COM's dates, really, as they're just speculation. Although it's possible that EB knows something we don't.

I think right now they're shooting for a holiday release, but my best guess (and a guess is all it is, as is anyones) would be within the first couple months of '06. Usually once a game goes into beta it gets delayed a couple of times to sort out last minute problems.

I seriously doubt that the Aug 05 release date stated on this site will happen and as stated above they have not committed to that date on the official site (second half 05 ).

I wouldn't mind a release in Spring 06 as long as it's smooth and virtually bug/exploit free.

Just give me an alpha invite and I'll be happy to test away.

I don't think the August release date is likely either.  The most important thing about this game will be getting all of the bugs out of it.

50% of the Player satisfaction will be from smooth-bug free days/sessions of game playing, so if it takes longer for the bugs, that would be fine by me.

Game matters and tweaking game concepts could come in recent patches after it is released: i.e. monsters, dungeon levels, weapon effects...etc.

I'd rather have a B-rate Flaming Axe slice my foe's arm off with nice blood and sound effects in the winter with no bugs, than have an Awesome axe, with unbelievable flame, texture, sound, and blood graphics, witha bug that causes it to lag for 10 mins, or with some other annoyance, by August 1st, anyway.

Not sure if any MMoRPG's make their initial release date at least any I know of.  There always seems to be 2 or 3 date changes as part of the standard operating procedure.  On the other hand it may depend on how bad they want to cash in on the holiday shopping season in which case they can push it out before it is properly beta'd and rely on the paying customers to finish the beta for them ( seems to be a growing trend on this method).
