It was bound to happen, now that it's done, will they refund the ten of thousands of players that paid premium subscriptions ? There is a huge backlash against this on official Russians forums, there is also russians living in europe and playing with familly / friends in russia that are outraged by this.

Anyone got a good and free vpn/proxy to use ? :D don't want to stop playing XD

    wow they just lost a massive chunk of their population.. i would think there will be a lot of empty servers now lol..

    Ah well just have to wait for Trion to pull thier finger out now.

    I also guess that means no russians on the EU and US servers.

    Umm - your ISP still issues your public IP - Google DNS does not change your IP - it simply resolves your DNS queries.

    This won't help anything.

    You can manually set your DNS to be 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (google public DNS servers) - however your public IP remains the same.

    thats what i figured.. thats why i was curious how it would help

    will google DNS will prevent from ip being banned tho ?, it seems they were talking about that.

    Tried playing it even with the English patch. The experience was horrendous. Nothing wrong with the game but i had to wait 5 hours to get in and all the English was poetic and/or cryptic. I didn't even understand what i was doing at the first respawn point and what the first 2-3 quests were about.

    To me, there needs to be a purpose in a MMORPG for my character. I would rather not play a MMO than play a game where i have no idea what i am doing. Even if Trion wouldn't release the English version, i would never go back to try Archeage RU again. I would just drop the game.

    Well you can use a proxy but you will most likley have the lag from "H E double hockeysticks"

    Unless you are of a faith that lacks that... But i am sure you get the general picture.

    This have been a good conversation

    Have the ban implemented yet?

    If so, yes I can play with Google DNS. Without it I'm banned as well.

    "account has been blocked in the game "ArcheAge"

    enter the game from your region is prohibited.

    on issues related to the restricted access to the game, you can contact support."

    I know that DNS doesn't change my IP, but the truth is that I and my friends are able to login with Google DNS just fine. Btw, I'm from SEA, I think that's the reason.

    Meh, was a booring game anyway, force myself to level for god knows what reasons, glad they made a decision for me.

    /facepalm

    What does Google DNS have to do with your public IP?

    Also Google DNS is globally distributed -

    "

    It does nothing to your public IP and yes google DNS is global but using 8.8.8.8 will take you to the closest one. For me that is europe so yeah I guess i should have been a bit more clear :)

    also your country might be in the ones allowed to access it... Google DNS might be doing nothing for you because you're not blocked

    Blocking access to certain regions

    Dear players!

    As we mentioned on page FAQ (frequently asked questions), at the request of the developers of the game - the company XLGAMES Inc. - We need to open and block access to the game according to their decisions. After receiving such a request, we hasten to inform you that from today introduced lock for States not included in the list below.

    The Russian version of the game ArcheAge fully available throughout the following countries:

    • The Russian Federation;
    • Armenia;
    • Azerbaijan;
    • Republic of Belarus;
    • Georgia;
    • Kazakhstan;
    • Kyrgyzstan;
    • Moldova;
    • Tajikistan;
    • Turkmenistan;
    • Ukraine;
    • Uzbekistan;
    • as well as in the countries with limited status - Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

    On IP-addresses belonging to other countries, go to the game would be impossible.

    We hope that you will treat this with understanding innovation.

    thats the official notice roughly translated... a fair few places still have access to the servers

    It doesn't. If they are blocking your IP, it doesnt matter in the least which DNS you are using, your IP address is still the same.

    The funny thing is that inemosz prob said that just to try and sound technologicly superior and tried to show that this was a non issue, though in reality, DNS is so completely unrelated to what Ip address you have, that it actually shows that he/she knows very little about how the internet and/or TCP/IP works lol.

    You do realise that you can contact support and if you paid they will add you to the exception list.

    This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

    Just out of curiosity, what is the reasoning behind this ban? Did they say anything about it?

    Well that sucks.  Wouldn't be so bad if Trion was coming out with it this month or something, but why am I sure they're not?

    I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

    The lock was set by request of XLGAMES Inc., which is a Korean company. And region lock games exist in any country I can think of. Even in your country. And a country named Soviet Russia doesn't even exist anymore. Really...

    What inemosz is talking about is google Russian proxy server. Google Chrome has an addon.Not sure how she is routing the game through the browser though.
