Not to sound like a hater, because ESO could genuinely be a good game, but if you are not having fun, why would you keep playing the game? It's your choice. When I first started playing WoW, I quit after about 10 levels, but I came back some time later and gave it another try. Now I have 5 lvl 90's. If you base a game on its first few levels, and complain you have nothing to play, whose fault is it really? The devs or yours?EDIT: Sorry, not the first few levels. The TUTORIAL. Which is nothing like the rest of the game.I would still say it is the developer's fault honestly. If a section of a game is just plain not fun, then they did it wrong. Just my opinion though.
whats not fun for you may be fun for others. also, not everyone is an mmo vet either and need to learn how to play these games.
to you that may not be fun but to others it's a necessity. also, the short tutorial tells a story, if the story and lore of the game bores you that much, it's probably not the game for you.
you may be better off not playing a game anything like this honestly.

Well you can stop scratching, those folks are paid to come onto forums and hype the game up. Just keep your money and in a few months to a year you can play it for free.
I guess I can assume people are also paid to go to web pages and say exactly this or did you come up with it yourself?
I am only stating what I know. If you don't believe me that's fine. I recommend you do some research on your own to find out the truth. I recommend that for all your choices. The forums are very misleading. Read on.

I totally agree, and have already stated ESO is not for me. Tutorials are completely necessary, doesn't mean they can't be fun. Check out TERA's tutorial if you want to see one that I felt was done very well. They throw you in high level gear with some pretty awesome abilities and have you run through a cool battle bashing away while learning to play. This is all my opinion of course. ESO is not for me. Could be a great game, just not my taste.

odd, the tutorial and especially newby islands in ESO are very similar to the starter worlds in SWTOR.
IMO at least. so yeah, unfortunately you do sound like a hater lol

You are trying too hard to defend a game that I am not attacking. I did not have fun playing ESO. I made it to level 13 and still was not having fun, so I stopped and deemed it not for me. You really need to read and understand posts before you quote them.

If you read the post that my post was referring to, it was answering a hypothetical question, not directly inferring ESO. I have no problem with ESO. I just did not have fun playing it.

im just trying to see your point of view. you seem to like SWTOR, am i right about that?
it's just odd to me that you wouldn't be a fan of the way ESO handled their tutorial and especially their newby islands when it's very similar to SWTOR, or do you disagree with that?
what was it about ESO's tutorial and newby islands that you found less fun than SWTOR? i'm just curious.
or was it not the tutorial at all? just the game as a whole, which would honestly make much more sense.
but you keep talking about the tutorial being boring, which again strikes me as odd coming from someone who likes SWTOR.

SWTOR is known for it's story, which begins even before you start the tutorial phase. It is very engaging and fun. Also, I just have more fun playing SWTOR. It may be the setting, or combat style, or the my pure love for Star Wars. I felt none of that while playing ESO, even though I am a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls game in general. The post you just quoted says I played up to level 13 and still was not having any fun. I did not find any of the quests or combat systems very engaging to me. SWTOR and ESO are 2 very different games, imo.

There's really no point in you guys arguing over this. You're both right.
The problem is that ESO currently lacks a 'hook'. It doesn't have anything that ropes people into the game instantly, and makes them want more. It's a much more gradual experience that requires patience. The current tutorial is mostly there to educate new players, instead of trying to hold interesting. This is why so many people give up on the game withing the first 5 mins. They're expecting something that isn't currently there. There's a reason most games have this, because the average person doesn't have the patience to 'wait and see'.
That said, just because a game doesn't have a hook, doesn't mean the game is inherently bad. In the case of ESO the actual game is actually surprisingly good. And this is coming from someone who expected the game to be a giant pile of crap when I first tried it. Because I mistakenly believed the internet hype about the game being garbage.
Perhaps ESO's largest issue atm is in how it presents itself. Their marketting team should've probably been re-evaluated a long time ago tbh (and I know that sounds harsh). What's currently being speculated is that the opening cinematic for the game, that's being worked on, will provide such a hook. We'll have to wait and see.
While this problem is similar to what we saw w/ SWTOR, it's absolutely ignorant to equate that w/ both games sharing multiple of the same flaws. At their cores they are VERY different games. Both in mechanics and vision. If ESO does run into problems post-launch, they will be very different ones from what we saw w/ SWTOR (which primarily suffered from the same problems as every raid-based progression MMO does).
He who doesn't understand why different people like different things, doesn't understand that he isn't the center of the universe or the only person in it.
I really hate the game. The way you need to go from point A to point B in PvP is annoying because of how big it is. I hate the quests because there aren't enough kill x, loot y but too much generic stuff like drinking ale, escorting NPCs, sneaking an NPC and too much choice consequences. I hate the way how my party died on the instanced dungeon and world bosses because a lot of my pug party mates don't know how to block or dodge well.
I want my pay check now WoW, Wildstar, Eve, UO, EQ, SWTOR, GW2. Thanks!
I hate it so much that I bought CE.

What level do you get to the main land?
With the new patch, you go straight to the mainland from the tutorial, with the option to go back to the starter islands if you want to.

No its not. The begining game has you moving from quest hub to quest hub and you pretty much have to in order to level. I've been told by people that the main land the game opens up in the sense that you aren't exactly lead everywhere, but its more closed circuit than GW2.
