Which is strange because this will be the first AAA MMO I will not be doing either. My first MMO was SWG and my first preorder MMO was DDO. I have played EVERY AAA MMO since DDO. Most I did not last more than a few months in. Some, like DDO, GW2, TOR, WoW I have lasted longer. I have been in two betas for Wildstar and I have to say I have zero interest in it. Maybe because I have lost all interest in WoW and can not see me playing another game based on it (same thing that killed TOR for me). I usually love getting invited to beta test new MMO's but after the first beta I had to force myself to try the second one. One hour "testing" and it was uninstall forever. Between the cartoony GFX and the lame gameplay I could not get into it.
I don't even know why I'm wasting time posting in this thread...
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Unlike other games that are coming out sooner (TESO), Carbine is proud of their game and wanted to show it's content. They've shown far more of their game prior to TESO's NDA drop than TESO showed of it's own game, let alone prior to it's own NDA drop. That's saying something.
And I've seen the level 50 content, the game's "Elder Game", and it's got meat unlike other games that didn't have it. It's not just the level 50 content, but the rest of the game as well. There's not going to be a repeat of Age of Conan's post-Tortage Island; there won't be a repeat of SW:TOR's lackluster design; Rift's small world is a speck compared to this game's expansive zones.
Dropping the NDA and shutting down the closed beta for 4 consecutive weekends where only people get in who pre-ordered or are long enough in the beta to reach lvl 32 (which aren't that many players compared to other MMOs - the invites were scarce).. well.. I guess that shows how confident they are with its current status.
Could I ask you something? Did you play WildStar in beta? I think I know the answer.
I have been in beta a long time. End game content is not what this game is lacking. They really have a solid elder game. IMO they spent to much time on it and not enough on the lower level content and making sure teaming works and is fun. Trying to team with people at lower levels will drive you crazy. Try to keep track of who is on what step of quests is not going to happen even with UI add ons. Healers dont get counted towards team kills so quest are a pain and you end up killing 3-4 x as many mobs so your healer can tag them. Dont get me wrong I more then likely will play this game but its faults are not the elder game. The paths you get to pick dont even work right. They feel like a half measure.
I am not a die hard WoW fan either, and I have really enjoyed Wildstar. I have been a closed beta tester for a long time and I will be pre-ordering this game. I believe what is leading many people to not like this game is that Carbine failed to captivate the audience out of the gates. The game levels 1-15 are a little slow with a lot of the generic mmo wowesque style quests. I however like PvP and broke up the 1-15 grind with plenty of battleground action.
The first 10 levels are important for every mmo to get people to purchase and play there game and it's a shame Carbine dropped the ball here. it is also a shame so many people will miss such a great game because they could not make it 15 levels in. After this point in the game there are many more options to level and each one is much more exciting than what other mmo's offer.
As for the elder game content, one word phenomenal!
Last note, I agree. Zaleax just stop already everyone who has read a thread about Wildstar knows how you feel about it. You're not going to change anyone's opinion and everyone except maybe a few other hater's and trolls are sick of hearing yours. Every Wildstar post on this forum you bust in and say "This game is bad", "Do you even play Wildstar bro?". Before you can tell me I can't take criticism of my beloved game (that is your line right?) I totally can, I just believe you have never heard the term beating a dead horse, which you are doing man. I will say it again we know you hate this game. No disrespect, just stop, we understand, really we do.
Definitely wouldn't pre-order ESO or Wildstar. They both got problems with the journey up the progression ladder and neither game is innovating in the right places. Malleable gaming worlds that allow the player base to make meaningful changes is the current direction that game makers are working towards bringing to the mainstream.
I probably wont pre-order. However, if some stranger told me he/she would pay for and pre-order one game of my choice between ESO and Wildstar, I would go with Wildstar. Maybe if I can get into another Wildstar beta or two I might be more willing and convinced to actually cough up the greenbacks to pre-order since I already know Zenimax isn't getting my cash.
Dear other gamers, please stop saying this game is enough like WoW you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, it is inaccurate and frankly it makes all of us look bad. We gamers are a discerning people, we have standards and we have ethics. Please lets all stick to these.
Honestly, people may hate on this game a lot because this game does not baby you any step of the way while leveling, its a shame how quickly some people may get frustrated with such a good game. I have been following this game for a while and it is no doubt a must buy for me. Its been a long time that i have felt this good about a game. Also, if you read the patch notes, grouping together on quests is fixed a bit now and honestly, i leveled 1-20 with a buddy the whole way and it was fun and fast....I guess that was just me though?
Just re-sub to WOW... You won't know the difference...
Unfortunately, that's part of the problem - I will know the difference because while I know where everything is and how to play my characters in WoW, I'd be starting essentially a very similar style game with no knowledge of jack or shit if I play Wildstar. If it was B2P, I'd probaby get it. But it's not.

I understand where you are coming from here, however just like most games, there will be floods of information that divulge any possible little secret about these games to the point where you almost have to surf the web with blinders on.
The game makes no effort to make questing a challenge either with big flashing arrows over hear anda hex based map that pretty much says "GO HERE!!!"
It really in unfortunate but that is the reality of modern themepark game development... McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Subway all trying to find flashy ways to shove their garbage food down your throat.

Ehm.. no? This is a joke, isn't it? I can't name a MMO with more hand holding than WildStar. Everything is clearly visible on the map. You always know where to go. All important items are highlighted with a big glowing gear wheel symbol from far away. If you're getting lost there's this giant arrow floating over your head which you can activate to see where you have to go. And then there are these mini games.. which you can fail intentionally and succeed anyways. It makes no difference if you click at the right time or remember the right color order.. the only punishment is a little knockdown for your character. The quest is fulfilled anyways. It should name itself "WildStar - the big carebear MMO". Never played such an easymode MMO.

What do ethics have to do with it? And whether that characterization is inaccurate depends entirely on how similar two games need to be for a given player to think there aren't substantial differences. Wildstar is, arguably, more similar to WoW than any other game released since WoW has been. Is it exactly the same? Of course not. But a very large amount of the design philosophy could have been ripped directly from the vanilla WoW team. They even have the token Undead race in the otherwise "good" faction, just like WoW. (If you think the Alliance were presented as the good guys in WoW, you weren't paying very close attention.)

Wasn't impressed with beta. So nope, no pre-order. Maybe, if it goes F2P I'd try and get into it even though I hate F2P games with con shops. Not worthy of a sub tbh.
No trials. No tricks. No traps. No EU-RP server. NO THANKS!
In closed beta early on. Started a thread in the beta forum about combat and multiple pages of replies. They listened and delayed the game to do it right. Carbine is a good company and wish them well in their release.

Elite: Dangerous - Space Exploration & Trading.
Clearly you haven't played WoW yet.
That is true. I just played WoW in a trial period up to lvl 15 or 20.. can't say much about that game.

comments like this are so moronic, hey ever thought people that want to play WS dont like orcs ,dragons, and elves?...and dated graphics?
iam a huge futurama fan- WS speaks to me WoW-just falls flat in so many levels-for me.
the comparison to WOW to an mmo has had its day. its time start comparing WoW to WoW itself and see where it has failed.
im sure you can catch up on that in their forums.
