So this is my third beta test weekend. I've just created a new character and done the starter quest line from Coldharbour to the initial city. Personally I prefer the previous version, what do you think?

Agree totally. The new, shorter, Coldharbour and end boss was better, but after that it was life 'WTF happened here?'
yep and the only weapon you can choose is a sword, so killing things is painfully slow, and then you get booted out into your city with a wrong weapon and no natural questline..... its really bad introduction to the game... totally confusing
I don't understand why they felt it was necessary to shorten Coldharbor as it wasn't that long before. The way this is going it won't be long until they will let you just start at level 10 so you don't have to "grind" though 2-3 hours of play to get into PVP.
And why don't we get to pick a weapon to start with anymore? It just took a huge chunk of openness out of the beginning of the game. Who was pushing for that idea?
I can understand why they made chests not respawn and why they took cooking receipts and mofits out of the chests (or at least made them much more rare) but some of these other changes are just bazaar.
Goes to show what happens when you listen to the "majority".
I think, being honest, that there was a lot of negativity about the way ESO handled the starter islands and Coldharbor before. I know that the tendency is to blame a vocal minority for a change, but I think what we saw was a very similar perception from people who were TES fans, or not MMO fans.
That said, I don't think what they did is exactly the change everyone was looking for. My guess would have been that they'd have dropped you on the island, and given you the choice to stay, or go to the mainland, instead of the opposite. Also, not being able to choose your weapon was somewhat of a surprise as well.
Do I like this better? Sure, but I think they got it backwards, and it could still be better. For me, I know I'll still go and do the starter islands just because I enjoyed them.
When i beta'd DDO (EU version P2P) it had a starter island totally different, they ignored what we told them to fix for god knows how long so after the month at release quit.
I ported it to the current version and the start from before has totally gone, Rift had more quests when it was in beta & P2P, F2P I tried it recently and was surprised when quests I was ready to accept were never offered. There was another that in beta had certain area's you had to go through but in F2P totally disappeared but for the life of me I can't remember name.
Makes me worried for ESO as it seems to be following a trend, honestly i hope it stays P2P but cash shop on day 1, they bend over faster than a cheap tart and it looks like they are cutting content already.
So we can still do them, right? I would hate to have all that content cut because a few impatient people wanted it gone.
I'm all for it being skippable, but removed would suck.
