Here's the thing though; the average quality of RPGs was higher 15 years ago than it is today, so that's not exactly a criticism.

Actually, you can increase a stat on your horse by 1% once a day by feeding him, so if you are trying to be frugal (rather than fast) you can turn your white or palomino horse into the equivalent of the "better" horse for only 2500 gold. (Assuming food cost is a constant.)  It will just take you about 20 days to do it, which is probably a lot longer than it would take to earn the gold to just buy the other horse.

Wasn't aware you could do that, still it evens out in the end considering the time it takes, not to mention the choice everyone has to "grind" or "pay". There's no unfair advantage I see in that.

Is the soul purpose of this game to get a mount ? it's all anyone ever seems to talk about in an eso thread.

And it's actually ten days.  My math skills wake up later than the rest of me.

It's the current up to date slight against the game. Give it time people will find some other singular issue to latch onto.

I guess it could be said at least there's still in game work to do to get your insta-mount  up to the standard of in-game mounts.

If you look at the stats. The two gift horses have lower starter stats. So they can never be as good as the ones you grind for. The fast hores starts with 25 points in speed vs 10 for the free or cash ones. The other ones you can grind for have 15 speed and 10 capacity. You feed them every day up to level 50, so in game grind mounts will always be better.

So you can only feed them 50 times?  I guess that means if you have a white horse or a palomino that means you should focus on stamina for that horse, since that is the only stat you can't go higher on with other horses.

The same way I felt when I did not have the time to play 4-5 hours every day to raid and obtain the best gear: you play your way, I play my way.

That is the beauty of this game.

You can play it solo, part time, or powerlevel.

I have spent so much time powerleveling and burning out in former mmos, it will be truly refreshing being able to sit back and enjoy this one without worrying about gimping yourself in pvp and losing that competitive edge because you didn't feel like playing 10 hours a day.. They really did a good job of opening this game up to all styles of play.

It's funny, because everything you guys are saying you love about this game is because of it's single player aspects and beating down on it's MMORPG parts. Why don't you just play, you know, single player games?

If people enjoy the singleplayer aspects of an MMO, so what? Some people like to explore large open RPG worlds and have the occasional option to play with their friends. Some people focus a lot on the MMO aspects. It's all personal choice. Your preference/reason for playing is not any more valid than theirs is.

And by the way if you like continuous progression and exploring open world RPGs which get continuously updated, then no you can't get that from a singleplayer game. Or you might want to point me to such games?
