Well - define "free". When I was believing that Anet can pull off LS, I was buying gems to support them... like well... all people in my guild? There was a time that I had tons of unspend gems, because there was nothing worthy in gemstore. And then I lost faith = stopped investing in Anet. And later I stopped playing at all, because you know - "gustibus non est disputandum", but LS is waaaaay below my acceptable level. Don't get me wrong - I still care for Guild Wars, but I really want some heads to roll. Writers and PR would be enough for me ;).

The fact You didn't pay for something, doesn't make it free. Others payed, I payed. And I didn't get what I payed for, so I'm not paying and I'm not playing anymore ;P. Nothing is free in this world.

Well you see that's where you went wrong. You're not supposed to buy gems just because you've been promised something. You're supposed to buy them after they have actually implemented something you like.

That way you yourself won't be disappointed in what you're getting and also giving direct, immediate feedback to the devs that they certainly will notice.

Such a wasted opportunity.  This game had so much potential.  I think the only thing that would drag me back at this point is a fully fledged Elona or Cantha expansion with new classes.

You paid for a game that is not a clone of every other game GW2 gave that with its  "unique" combat and less skillbar clutter. You did not like the game thus you stoped playing. You DID get what you paid for, just because i buy a game on xbox and not like it does not mean i did not get what i paid for. I got the game as promoted at the time. GW2 is fairly spot on whit what was told we would get. The gem shop is not MANDATORY it was your on fault for buying it. And infact if your not lazy you can farm gold and exchange it to gems. which i have done countless times when an item i want comes out. I have not spent a dime o nthe game outside of buying it. and they are giving me mother then the 63 bucks i paid for it at the time.

Nooo-oop. I get my money worth from the box - thats for sure. I think it was a really good deal. But there is a difference between "get what you paid for" and "get your money worth product".

For example - You buy gems to purchase armor skin. You get the skin, You like it - You "get what You paid for". Buuut - You want to support a cause, You buy same gems, but the affair is being revamped without letting You know? Well - You "got your money worth" - the gems. But You "didn't get what You paid for", because manifesto landed in trash and some kind of weak hybrid storyteling thingy took it place. Some may like it, but I do not.

Quite the opposite. I loved GW2, when it came out. Don't put words into my mouth, words I never said. I love combat, I love the flow of action, I'm intrigued by the no-trinity battle system (but still I think it's broken - Anet removed healers from roster and didn't present any viable system to replace old one... but it's my opinion and thing for a longer discussion). What I don't like is LS, Mostly the writing for LS. Boring, half baked, predictable, on the level of poor fanfiction. Why fanfiction? Well - because usually when You write something foe a existing franchise You do not undermine existing lore. And there was far more lore destroyed by clumsy writing in every new LS chapter, than new lore set in whole LS 1 season. But heee-hey, that's only my opinion -_-

Erm... ever heard of Anet manifesto? I was sure they can not pull it off in box. But I thought it's the general direction they will take with updates. In my opinion (notice its "my" and "opinion") the game after LS became a "thing" is going as far away from manifesto promises that You can go. We can argue at some points, but still - what was selling point for me, was erased  by story writers in LS.

Ok - once again with feeling. What part of "I was buying gems to support Anet" You didn't get? I was believing in Anet, I wanned to help them make game that they promised by manifesto - so I was investing in non mandatory gems purchase. I was fully aware it was like gambling - there was only a promise that they will use money from gem sales to forge manifesto ideas into the game. They didn't? Well, don't blame me for having faith - it's fool me once situation. They've promised and I believed them.

And don't use "my fault" so lightly, because if You actually like LS - it was created by money of many people - mine included. I'm just simply stating the fact - I didn't get what I was investing in.

And missed a point again. How farming and changing gold into gems would support Anet financially? Ah, ok - maybe gems would be more expensive, which could lead to more people choosing to buy them by cash not in game currency. Twisted logic, but I can respect that.

The difference is in reason. You want something form gemstore, I wanned to support Anet. You needed gems for Your thing and I? I had tons of useless gems, because there was nothing I needed from gemstore.

You say that You didn't spend a dime on the game - great for You. But please, don't force You reasoning on me. I like to support projects I like, because I want them to thrive - no matter how small my input can be. So it's neither my merit nor my fault that Anet choose to change their course.

If You do not like to invest in products You like - that's ok, that's great. That's the situation that grants You full right to zen with whatever crap is pushed into LS. Because it's like free updates for Ya. Someone else payed for them, so hey - no matter what You get, it's great that You get anything! I understand that and I respect that. Cool. Once again - great for You. Not so much for me ;P

Agree :). But still - I support products I like, whenever I can. Call it stupidity, call it kickstarter mentality, or call it experience. I know how it is to work on semi artistic projects and I value support of this kind. But it's only me it seems ;)
