Looking for a mmo with good crafting and semi-free

markauxmarkaux Member Posts: 2

Well, first i wanna say hi to this community, this is my first post here but i´ve been using this site a lot, because i really like mmorpg. But, even if i really like them, i still couldn´t find a game which could fill all my expectatives. Being that there are a lot of games here in internet, and seeing that searching for them is really hard (being that what i want is very specific), i resorted to ask here to this community.

What im searching for, is a mmo with a good crafting system and semi-free as the title of this thread says. First i wanna explain what i mean with "semi-free". I know that there´s no good game which is really free, every game, being WoW, LotRO, Wurm and all those, prompt their playerbase to pay for playing, getting "points" or vip status, things that let the player have full access to the game (like getting a new max level, rides, new zones, the best equips, etc.). Well, being that im from Argentina, it´s extremely expensive to me to pay for those things. So, what im searching for is a game which let the players get those points in the game, buying them with in-game currency or with quests, in an unlimited source, letting the player to have full access to the game for free, but obviously in the really hard way. For example, a game which have special quests which gives the player 1 or 2 of those "points" per quest, and letting the player become vip using, i dont know, for example 100 or 200 points, or letting the player spend in-game money for those points (like for example spending 1 million in-game gold for 1 point). This last point would be nice too because it will mean that the in-game money is valuable because it would prevent inflation. I played a lot of games where it´s in-game money value is so lame that everything is extremely expensive because people "gather" a lot of money and have no way to spend it in a way which that money "disappear from the server". Paying for those points would be a nice way to prevent those things.

What i´m looking for in the game too is a good crafting system, letting even newbie or low level players to have access to it. I´ve been playing Tera Online and, even if it has a crafting system, it´s almost impossible for low level players to enjoy it because is extremely expensive, so one need to be level 60 and have a lot of money to craft a level 30 weapon which can´t be sold because to make it profitable one should set a price which no level 30 player could afford, so it will never be sold. I would like a crafting system like the one in WoW, where one should get the materials and having to level the professions.

Those 2 are the main point i´m searching in a game. There are others things i would want, but these 2 are the most important. I don´t care about graphics, the game could be 2D, 2.5D or 3D, i don´t care about that. If someone know about a game like this, please tell me and i´ll try it.

Sorry if my english is hard to undestand, i tried my best. If someone doesn´t understand something, tell me and i´ll try to explain myself in another way.

Thanks in advance!

hiya, i know couple games you might wanna try.

    Perfect World International

-you are allowed to learn all crafting skills, have to mine rocks and plants from ground and kill monsters for leather drops. game allows to run 2 chars at the same time, recently implemented bot system. So you can always play and run second account for bot(leather farming) or merchant(make coin, buy whatever materials you want, merchanting crafting materials gives nice amount of money and will let you stack up hundreds of materials at the same time).

-item mall currency can be sold through auction house so you can actually get everything you want from auction house.

-killing monsters will drop dragon quest items, selling them to npc will get you dragon points that you can trade for fashion etc and event gold. event gold can be used in specific item mall, you can get fashions, mounts, charms and other goodies in there that you will need for game.

this is only game that i know that doesn't force anyone to pay cash and everything you will need will be able to attain thru game.

    Dragon's Prophet

-best items comes from crafting, easy to gather crafting materials, can make dragons to farm materials for you. can learn all the crafting skills.

-doing daily quests you can get currency that you can spend in item mall, cannot buy everything though. for a start you probably will need to spend 5 euros. it have pay by phone option and also have regular 90% bonuses, so for 5 euros you can get lots item mall currency to increase bank/inventory, after that you will want to do daily quests to increase dragon slots/chamber/buy house etc. it will take long time to gather enough :s

overall PWI game might be better, easy to get coin(bot, merchant, daily quests), lots of currencies/points to spend and attain all you want in game. Dragon's Prophet will be challenging and every item you want from item mall will take long time to get. many items aren't buyable with daily quest currency and many items from item mall cannot be traded with other players.

Fallen Earth has great crafting, and like 95% of the items in that game are able to be crafted.

Almost a week passed since i posted this thread, so, after testing those games, i wanted to say thanks to both of you. I tried playing Fallen Earth and Perfect World International, and, in my opinion, Fallen Earth seems closer to what i was searching, but i didn´t play enough in both games to know them at all. I didn´t try Dragon´s Pophet, what you told me didn´t really catch my attention, but i guess i´ll try it later anyways. Thanks again for answering guys!

Try EQ2. It has a silver level membership that is a one time $5.00 fee. That lets you play most of the content and its crafting system starts at level 1.

It's also shutting down, so there's no reason to start playing it now.
