For me Wildstar picked the best elements from many good MMOs.
- The amazing "cartoony" art style and responsive gameplay of WoW.
- The dodge system of GW2.
- The "Star Wars" music style, in so many places(personal opinion, not all like StarWars Music style :P).
- Probably the best animations i've ever seen in an MMO.
- Events/Public quests(a bit like WAR).
- Amazing Humor.
- The whole game has its own quality universe(lore) and its feels like you play a part in it.
This game is not a WoW clone, it just has the best elements from all the "successful" MMOs.
And this "skillshot" system, damn addicting.
Can't wait the launch, preordering today after i tryed the beta, cya on Nexus

I was not going for any of those 2. Maybe i was just a bit up for TESO (as an old ES player) but the last weekend beta was a letdown for me.
On the other hand Wildstar was a positive surprise. i wasn't expecting much, until the last 2 days i m playing the beta for first time. I m not going to say much, i already did it to another post, i ll just say it gives me the right feeling. It makes me feel what i want to feel when i try a new game. On the contrary TESO felt so wrong in every aspect.
So yes, if they keep the good work until the release i m on their waggon
Same here i pre-ordered it. I don't do that much but this time it was worth it.
Also they promis lot's of regular updates and i do hope it won't be at the GW2 style because i don't want mini games of all kind added, but if they add new real content at regular interval that will be fun. I know it is new and could be the reason i am so interested but also the fact that i can choose at what speed i level up. In group for fast leveling or alone to explore etc. and learn everything.
I won't levelup multiple character also at the same time because i don't want to get tired of the game fast + i can learn all profession with the same toon so need for me to have multiple ones right away. Also i get my own house and can visit the one's of my friend and hangout with them there.
I wan't to build a skate ramp like in the video on twitch i watched it will be cool to play on that with my overboard or drive a spaceship with some friend and duel in them by shooting at each other We dont see this in other games, they have so much to offer.
edit : For the quest comments just don't click the quest title or subject and it won't show you where the items are or where to turn it in. That simple, why bash it ? i knonw some needs to bash everything but at least bash at something important, seriously
WildStar is fun for the first couple of times you play it. I had a lot of fun in the game till about level 20. Then it gave me burn out, the same burn out WoW gives me.
You might like it the more you play. But the trend I see is the more people play, the less they like it. I am not surprised this was you first beta weekend.

All that stuff about graphics is a question of taste, but what Wildstar doesn't do is bring anything new or interesting to the table. It's just a hodgepodge of other game mechanics from post-WoW theme park MMOs.. I would say the same about ESO save for maybe the combat and its first-person
Worse though, it perpetuates the worst elements of the cookie-cutter, cutsie BS MMOs that we simply don't need any more of. Bring on Gen4, this is distinctly Gen3. Been there, done that, hated every second of it.
Having played several weekend betas on both ESO and Wildstar, ESO definitely left me with a feeling that I could care less to play it come launch. Admittedly after this weekend I am a bit burnt on Wildstar, but I still like it.
Yes it is a LOT like WoW, yes I think it needs a lot more polish and refinement but I think it should be good come launch.
Personally I intend to get up to level 15 and play around with housing, then stop playing the weekend betas
All i can say is all about tastes....
I feel totally the opposite to you...
* hate the art style. It´s not cartoony....it´s like Disney made it
* Like the dodge system i must agree...but hate the telegraphs and i think it´s better done in GW2.
* Music felt out of place. No dangerous feeling just Disney Channel all over again.
* HATE animations. My character felt like a ballerina jumping around in grace.
* Humor....well it´s ok. It´s very hard to make humor internationaly since not everyone around the globe can find funny the same things due to cultural aspects but...hey! !Humor is always wellcome
* Universe felt solid...yeah ok but some animals where just like taken from SPORE....
I must admit I just couldn´t get in the game.Probablly because i dislike it´s look. Hated Driving in taxi, felt so outdated...so boring...so clunky...so SWOTORish....
I felt totally out of place. Plus the optimization of the Beta client was terrible.
I DO believe it´s a WoW clone...even though i have nothing against that, since i loved WoW. But that was long ago...
As i said before....it´s all about tastes.
Have fun with your WildStar!
congrats OP for finding a game that suits you. you know what they say? one man's garbage is another man's gold.
it's so true in this case.
I've preordered ESO and it was actually the Wildstar beta that helped me make my decision. I really enjoyed the time I spent playing ESO, whereas, Wildstar was a mild disappointment.
If you enjoy Wildstar, fantastic! Enjoy yourself and have fun. I'll be doing the same in Tamriel.
And this is why there is room in the MMO space for multiple style of games. I don't agree with you on most of your points and that's okay.
Personally, I dislike the art style of Wildstar very much. I didn't like it in WoW either. Nor did I care for a cartoonish style in TOR. Though, I put up with it in TOR because I'm a Star Wars Fanboy and I so badly wanted TOR to be good. After about a year I had to stop kidding myself. It had good points, but it wasn't a good game in my opinion. I much prefer games with a more realistic tone to the graphics but, that's just me.
ESO also has active dodging and blocking and I agree, that is a much better system than the standard WoW tab targeting with fire and forget abilities.
Everyone harps on the animations in ESO personally, I don't know what everyone is on about. They look fine to me but again, to each their own.
I can't speak to the rest because I haven't played Wildstar and I really don't intend to. Nothing I've seen screams, "You have to play this game." For those who enjoy it, I hope it continues to deliver the goods. The MMO genre needs more successes and less failures. However, my money will go to ESO.
There Is Always Hope!
Its silly to compare to two games. Don't get me wrong, I feel ESO is very lack luster (to the point it stands even lower to me then GW2 which if you know me I consider GW2 as being mediocre at best) but its just like comparing apples to oranges. Both are fruits (MMos) sure but they don't have much in common otherwise.
Also, cartoony graphics are stupid, your not mature if you play games with a more cartoon art style that doesn't have pointless blood shed and boobs without any other substance! ./sarcasm
I went into both betas thinking Wildstar was a pure WoW clone and ESO was going to be awesome with graphics for adults and daoc pvp... then I actually played them both and found myself having far more fun Wildstar.
I blame it largely on ESO's questing being so boring... or maybe I just tell myself I want something different than WoW when what I really want is more WoW...
Is Wildstar still a WoW clone? Yep.
But hey! Wildstar doesn't come out for three more months and I can afford to drop $80 on ESO.
It's great that finally there are some people who enjoy WS. For me it was a huge disappointment. But hey.. different strokes for different folks. The only thing I can't understand is calling the questing system of ESO boring and not saying the same about WS. I can't remember a single MMO with that much grind like WS. It's just "kill 50 of these", "kill 100 of these".. I know that you have to do many "walk there - talk to NPC X" in ESO and that could be also quite boring. But WS isn't any better.

Need more people like you to derail the hype train. People are starting to hype up WildStar. We can't have that!
We want the people who this game is not targeted for to be fully aware why it is not for them. Whilst those it is targeted for, to be pleasantly surprised!

Same here. I Pre-ordered ESO while I was playing through Skyrim again. But after playing a bit and watching a bunch of gameplay and feature videos, I talked myself out of it. I love the ES games and I will play ES VI, but I have 0 desire to play that online. No raids and the only endgame is more questing? No, thank you. My refund is on the way.
So I came here and the last time I saw anything about WildStar was that CGI video a year ago or so. I don't trust cinematic trailers so I didn't think much of it. But I just watched about 6 hours of streaming and I was enthralled. My sig says it all now.
WildStar is like if Ratchet and Clank had a baby with Beyond Good & Evil and that baby was raised by World of Warcraft and Spore and babysat on the weekends by the aliens from Space Jam. It's an ugly bastard worth a few laughs but not much else.
You mean World of Looney Toons Star ?
I'll pass.
