You're right of course.  ESO is twice the game GW2 is.  Better questing, better storylines, better skill system, better progression system, better voiceover, better lore, better RvR, better PvE, better exploration, better crafting.

But it doesn't have jumping platforms, which is such a terrible  and tragic loss.

Don't agree, according to beta-test TESO has:

    - better questing. NO! worster questing system, not dynamic and repetitive

    - better storylines. I doubt, but noboby see it yet. will not argue before complete it.

    - better voice over. NO. similar.

    - better RvR. No. I like WWW more. If faster has more fun basically. AvA too slow and boring imho.

    - better explorating. Completely not agree!

    - better crafting. why better? the same crap. Sorry, I not like crafting

Also TESO has atm in comparison with GW2:

    - MUCH worster combat system

    - bad combat UI

    - worster animation

    - worster art and graphics

    - no sPvP, spectator, etc.

    - just one AvA map, bad design of match-ups

    - no underwater combat at all

    - no jumping puzzles

    - no good dynamic events-system

    - no live-story

    - no minigames

    - etc.

This post is worster then you think

So you haven't even PLAYED the game?  What the fuck are you even talking about it for then.

    - better questing. NO! worster questing system, not dynamic and repetitive

Have you played GW2?  It's questing is not dynamic, and it's the ulimate exercise in repetition.

    - better storylines. I doubt, but noboby see it yet. will not argue before complete it.

GW2 storylines are written for children.

    - better voice over. NO. similar.

No.  GW2 isn't fully voiced.  ESO also has a few thousand hours more of actual voice acting and a voice cast that would make a Disney movie jealous.

    - better RvR. No. I like WWW more. If faster has more fun basically. AvA too slow and boring imho.

I have a friend that likes fat girls, he at least knows enough to know not to pretend he has good taste.

    - better explorating. Completely not agree!

Good for you, doesn't matter... it has more to explore and rewards exploration more.

    - better crafting. why better? the same crap. Sorry, I not like crafting

If you don't know this, you know nothing about the game and aren't qualified to speak on it.

    - MUCH worster combat system

I'd give GW2 a slight advantage, not much though.

    - bad combat UI

What the fuck is a combat UI?  Is it different than a regular UI?  The UI is minimalistic and works fine.

    - worster animation

Sure, I'll give u you this.

    - worster art and graphics

Worster?  Your grammar and taste have something in common.  Regardless, both games are beautiful to look at.

    - no sPvP, spectator, etc.

It's an RvR game, who the fuck cares?

    - just one AvA map, bad design of match-ups

Bad design of match ups?  What does that nonsense even mean.  The AVA map is massive compared to GW2 maps

    - no underwater combat at all

    LOL WHO CARES?

    - no jumping puzzles

    Is this super mario?

    - no good dynamic events-system

Neither does GW2.  It has public events like Dark Anchors and Dark Fissures.

    - no live-story

You mean the nonsense marketing term that they use for half-assed content updates?  Shouldn't you guys have a real expansion by now?

    - no minigames

    You mean like Lockpicking?

Yeah, I really don't care either.  But it's a minigame.  It's telling that this is what you picked out to criticize.

    +100

It is pretty easy to find out if GW2 has been doing well or not financially. Just do some research and you will find out that not one person has lost his or her job at ANET.

During these hard times when other gaming companies have been closing their offices and laying off people, Anet has actually been hiring people.

You don't like the game? fine..but atleast don't spread nonsense like 'it has been a loss economically'.

  • RobsolfRobsolf Member RarePosts: 4,607

I'm not aware of GW2 being a financial failure.  And we do know NCSoft's track record for killing games if they aren't making money.  If it wasn't making money, it'd be gone by now.

I thought, and still think it's a pretty good game, but it's hardly the "destroyer of all MMO's" that folks on this very board said it would be.  According to folks here, playing GW2 would make me never want to play a traditional quest/story based MMO ever again.  Couldn't be further from the truth.

Just to clarify, I like the game and still play it from time to time.  I'll definitely be back for the big update next month.  But for me, the different take on questing and event chains really didn't live up to the hype.  Honestly, I was more impressed with the crafting inventory and "experimentation for recipes" aspect of the game.

Edit:  Yeah, the last sentence... pretty lame.  True or not, I don't see how liking one game means you have to diss on another.

I agree that there will never be another GW2....since that already exists. I am pretty sure however that there may be a GW3.

If that means devs would try to make an mmo that isn't PVE focused themepark nº346, than i'm perfectly happy with that.
  • Bad.dogBad.dog Member UncommonPosts: 1,131

I would think GW2 was a pretty good financial success ,and even with it's faults must be considered as one of the 5 best mmo's ever made ....Daoc  ,Wow,Eve ,Eq and GW2

There are lots of other mmo's that were certainly good enough that they held my interest and were worth the time and money they cost Lotro ,Rift ,Shadowbane ,CoH and Gw1

Don't you mean like finding a Treasure Map while exploring and having to find hidden treasure?

or like finding a book, and reading the story which gives you a minigame of hide and go seek out the meanings and rewards?

are there any MMO's that have scavenger hunts?

I agree with the OP. I hope to god there never is another GW2 because the game is awful. While I believe it's definitely a successful game I found it to be extremely boring and shallow.

But at least the game was playable on a fundamental level, the controls and animation were tight and polished. ESO looks like Superman 64 compared to it.

    O_o o_O

I think gw2 is the second best mmorpg on the market next to wow. But that's just me. I think this next update will help solidify that since they are bringing back one of the best features from gw one. The skill progression.

  • eye_meye_m Member UncommonPosts: 3,317
I don't care about there being another GW2, but I am looking forward to the time where they want to build GW3 so they can make some global improvements and take the next steps in dynamic events.  GW2 was very much fashioned to my preferences in gaming, they just didn't quite take it far enough.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

The amazing amount of detail in this game is unsurpassed by anything, even some of the older games that have set precedents.

As somebody who had been burnt out on WoW and every other derivative product under the sun I wasn't expecting anything and got more than a thousand hours out of this game.

What exactly do I mean? Graphical detail. Platforming elements. Size of game world, content, class diversity. The events that were delivered free of charge I took for granted. The awesome soundtrack (seriously? nobody appreciates the quality of the music?). The easter eggs strewn about the world...

If this game had released 10 years before it had, it would have received "one of the best games ever made" award, but.. it didn't.

Even though it did everything perfectly and on top of everything added something the MMO genre really needed like Platforming (and to a FAR lesser degree), Puzzle elements, it hasn't received its just deserts and has in recent time sort of gone the tried route of adding more incentives for people to spend money (yay ascended).

To summarize the above: There will not be another game of the same quality as GW2 that delivered the same amount of content updates without an initial sub.

PS: ESO sucks and isn't half the game GW2 is, even sans sub.

I really truly hope there isn't another GW2....... oh wait EQ next.... MMO's need the trinity that is all. Oh adn GW2 is great if you like playing alone.

    EDIT: Misspelled sheik lol

Sorry you are wrong. He is not only an amazingly talented troll, but extremely funny. www.twitter.com/the_ironsheik

The funniest tweet he did, is when he tweeted out to hulk Hogan, and told him he had a mouse dick.

On topic. I hope we never see the likes of a GW2 like game again. Still upset my friends who never play MMOs, talked me into buying it during launch. I knew it was a bad game for me, but they convinced me, it would be worth it.

At least that proves my point, it's a mmo for people who don't usually like or play MMOs. There are plenty of exceptions to this of course, but that is my experience.

Must be my imagination that kicked in when i played with 100+ people for 6+ hours on sat/sun.

Trinity is dumbest form of combat ever done. If you want dumb combat, theres certainly not lack of games for you (yes, PvE is dumb in every MMO without exception)

My theory is that GW1 was a subscription free game and so they decided to keep the model for GW2 to appeal to GW fans. Too bad the gameplay wasn't so appealing to GW fans.
