Official adventure zone information finally + a hint at possible horse races

Here you go.  I like the idea of an entire zone devoted to group content.

http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/post/2014/03/26/esos-veteran-content

Craglorn (Adventure Zone)

The first ESO Adventure Zone is called Craglorn, a zone that is situated between Hammerfell and Cyrodiil. All content in Craglorn is built for a group of four. The story revolves around a mysterious removal of the constellations from the sky, so the Warrior, the Thief, the Mage, and the Serpent all play a part in unraveling the mystery of Craglorn.

Imagine a zone similar in setup to a standard PvE zone, but tuned for a group of four. Follow a story, or just go explore. Delves are instanced to your group; these are the interior spaces where you’ll always find a boss and a Skyshard. There are events similar in mechanics to Dark Anchors but with a different fiction—and much more difficult. There are also story areas that are similar to very large dungeons—each has a quest guiding you through them. These can be replayed as much as you want. And this is just the tip of the iceberg: there are lots of little events, a full storyline and quests, more crafting opportunities, and entries to the Trials, our large-group Veteran PvE content.

Twelve Person Group PvE:

Trials. Twelve people fighting through an increasingly difficult experience. A Trial is instanced to your group of twelve. There is a staging area where you can plan your attack and the Trial itself.

In a Trial, you will have a limited number of resurrections, known as a Soul Reservoir. Too many resurrections mean that you have failed the trial. It takes a lot of coordination to survive a Trial. The enemies you face in a Trial will be difficult, while the surroundings are some of the most beautiful places in ESO. Provided you do survive and make it to the end of a Trial, your group might make it to the leaderboard. Trials have a running clock and mistakes, including deaths, can add a time penalty. Turn in a great time, however, and you might make it to the top of the leaderboard. If you fail, your group can restart and try again.

The Future

Describing the veteran gameplay strategy in these terms also leaves out a very important, but necessary element in the strategy: new systems or growth in breadth as well as vertical growth of current systems. We will introduce new systems over time which will add to both the pre- and post-level 50 game. Adding fresh new systems helps broaden the experience for all players, giving you even more things to do on a given day. As an example, we might introduce horse racing. For those players who have fed their horses and think they are ready to test their riding skills…

This is just a small example of how breadth of activity is all part of the goal and strategy for The Elder Scrolls Online veteran gameplay. You’re not just building your character for one or two things, but for a variety of activities. Different days of the week and even different hours of the day can change your motivations for what you want to do or experience. We don’t think of people as PvP players or PvE players—they are just gamers and we will support you playing the way you want to play.

Ok, so the Adventure zone is tuned for 4 players with all the story quests, small dungeons, large dungeons, exploration, new dark anchors and more crafting materials, maybe a new crafting station and so on. So this will be a good way to continue the story adventures and new complete zones for those who like it.

The 12 man "trials" will be a "raid" instance with a scoreboard. Mistakes will show with the score and top groups will be recognized by being at the top of the board for the entire megaserver.

They plan on adding to both pre and post level cap. Sounds good to me.

I like the sound of it - definitely a lot more to it than 1 big raid dungeon or something.  However I always cringe when I hear "repeatable content."  It just makes me think of daily quest or gear token grinds.  Hopefully that's not how it is - we will see.

Silly question, even though it's tuned for 4 people, can 2 people enter?

I suppose only certain beta testers know this?

My big question; Are these groups faction locked or can you group cross faction?

They could make the story post level 50 completion  about the factions fighting off something that is a threat to all. That way it could be for all three factions to play together. The enemy of my enemy type of thing.

But I have a feeling it will be faction locked because of the War. No clue, just a guess.

Why would you think this is cross faction when nothing else in the game is?

At least there will be a much larger number of "repeatable content". They did say there would be multiple Adventure zones at some point. But most end game is repeatable for the most part. There is always an end to content until updates or expansions come out.

When will this veteran zone be available?  vL1 to 10 orat VL10?  Or will it actually be the VL11 content?

will they also add normal solo storie zones after release?

Seems like the trials will be their first shot at  adding raid content (12 man)

Is it?  I know you can't cross faction questing and obviously PVP but you can port to a different factions dungeon instances.  Can you build 4 and 12 man groups cross faction and do these instance zones together?

They did say they would add pre 50 content as well. So that would be new 50++ content for 2 of the factions. But I don't know if they will give solo/duo stories until the first expansion. I would like to see some new solo delves as well in these zones, but I think I will be able to get 2 or 3 more players to experience the Adventure zones.

You can port to the other factions instanced dungeons and you can do the other alliance zones @ 50+, but always just with your own faction. I'm not saying it's impossible but doing it for adventure zones or trials would be the first time they've done it for any game play.

The way I read this is that all this content is only available once you reach Veteran status?

Yes, you have to finish your faction story to get to the other 2 factions at level 50. You can just go PvP and do PvE in Cyrodiil. Otherwise, you have to reach level 50 before you can do Veteran dungeons, 50+/++ and Adventure zones.

Horse races might be fun.  If they do this, there MUST allow us to place bets.   (I'm sure players will organize betting if ZOS doesn't create a system for it.)

I doubt we will until closer to the first content patch, my guess is 6-8 weeks for the first patch

Interesting that the rewards for the Trails aren't mentioned.  I do like the idea of an internal scoreboard, nice to have an official progression listing.  Although the flipside is that defeating the trial and scoring the most points might not be the same thing, but i guess we live and see.

if there are horse races there should be jousting as well IMO, both with betting of course.

I wonder how many Shadowbane fans saw "possible horse races" and clicked furiously hoping for word of playable centaurs...

IMO they must deliver the first Adventure Zone within 2 months to be successful, 4-6 weeks preferred for those that race to max level during the 1st free month. All of what they describe sounds awesome. I particularly like what they said about Trials and how beautiful the world will be there. I love exploring :-).

    There Is Always Hope!
