Crafting is an interesting part in ESO and is one of the strengths ingame, but there are still some points which Iam not sure about.
It is said that you will have enough skill points left to master 2 crafting skill lines out of 6.
Lets assume someone is playing with a ficitonal class & gear:
* Light Armor
* Bow
* 2H Sword
In such a case 2 crafting skill lines alone wont be enough that someon is able to craft his own gear:
* Clothing for Light Armor
* Woodworking for Bows
* Blacksmithing for 2H Swords
I did read that supposedly the best gear ingame will be crafted ?.
What about players who:
* dont choose any skill lines to produce weapons and armor but choose skill lines like Alchemy, Provision or Enchanting ??
* who are not that much interested in crafting at all ?

How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

Setting aside the time requirements needed to level maxing out a crafting line takes about 20 skill points give or take a few. If you did everything you could get north of 300 skill points to spend and a strong two weapon build might cost you 150 or so skill points with passives so there is room to max out three crafting professions plus a focused build.
Of course your not counting enchanting and cooking either both of which have some value.
You will not be able to level up a character by just doing crafting since the vast majority of XP comes from completing quests. You will not be able to get the resources needed to make stuff for your other characters without moving on to higher level zones and they are level-locked going up.
With respect to selling stuff and buying stuff from other crafters: There is no auction house unless you are part of a guild, and those "storefronts" are just for other guildmembers; as such, you will not have access to a greater market, will have no access to information about competitors' pricing, and will be limited to what you can sell through "trading". You will not see tons of resources being offered in an auction house for crafters to buy and use to increase their crafting skills. You either obtain it yourself or have your other characters getting it for you (your hireling, if you get one, isn't going to provide enough "stuff" to really help that much).
IMHO, if you intend to craft at all, you will be best off using alts with different specialties in crafting, collecting resources of any type they find as they quest, and then supplying each other through their shared bank. That means, of course, that you will need to take a slow approach to leveling since you'll be leveling your alts simultaneously in order to keep crafting skills on par with equipment needs.
This isn't like regular Elder Scrolls games; your character level doesn't really advance as a result of leveling your skills. That to me is the biggest difference between ESO and the real Elder Scrolls games. So, it doesn't appear viable to have characters that are just crafters.
As such, I don't see crafting playing all that well in ESO as it has in other games; you can't get the resources to make "it" unless you quest; you can't improve your crafting skills to get to where you can make "it" unless you quest; and the odds are that you can't sell "it".
There is over 300 Skill points in the game, enough to get skill points for every single skill possible.
I wouldn't try to do more then one craft at a time, research for all of them, but Its over 300-400 hours to max a craft out. Pick the one you most like, and then buy the other crafted from someone else, find a drop. Or my favorite, sell some of your goods or trade some of your good for other goods you need.
They can craft the best gear in game, and also take droped raided gear and make it the best gear in game also. upgrades are different then crafting, and can be done to dropped gear.
You have Crafting Skill Point Passives for crafting. These allow you to craft higher level gear usually 9/9 points to max for a craft, and any other passives usually add to perks of crafting, like obtaining more for your refined stuff, or a hireling who mails you upgrade mats, ect.
If you pick no skill points into a craft, then your not going to get very far, since the 9 points requirement to get to max level crafting.
I think everyone will pick atleast one craft, but there are some people out there believe it or not, that do not like crafting. Usually the PVP type people who like to kill others all day long and nothing else.
