Advice for MMORPG Curious People!! READ!!

I just wanted to say I've been playing MMORPGs for over 6 years and if your into more challenging MMORPGs a great game to play is Everquest 1.  Alot of people are coming back, the content is unreal in it, and with the recetn server merges people are filling the zones once again and finding groups is very easy take it from me I had to start from scratch.  Don't waste your time with unchallenging MMORPGs like WoW or EQ 2 spend it on something worthwhile like EQ 1.  I'm telling you, I'm not a salesman for EQ I'm just tryin to help people that are in the middle of deciding what MMORPG to try / play.  Oh and after awhile Vanguard will be out so that will be the next one to check out IMHO.

    No thanks.

Played EQ since oct 99. It's dead now. Plus grinding out 250+ AA's got extremely boring and I wondered why I was paying SOE for it.

    R.I.P EQ Original thru SoV.

Ok, but you can't tell me seriously you enjoy playing world of Warcrap or Evercrap 2?  The only other games i haven't tried that people say are pretty good are EVe online and Final Fantasy online.

EQ2 was okay for about a month, then I realized it sucked and I'd just be grinding for the remaining levels. Waster of $50, cancelled the account.

Only played WoW for 2 weeks, was very bored of it at first and was gonna quit but I didn't want to waste $50 and only play it for a couple weeks. Got more entertaining as the levels progressed but school caught up with me so I cancelled it.

I think I'm burnt out with all these carbon copy mmorpgs now.

Heck if you like EQ1, then state of the art graphics are obviously not an issue for you.  In that case try Asheron's Call 1.  It has a wide variety of content, tons of quests, and Turbine provides far better support and updates then SOE.  There are so many games out currently that there's little excuse for not finding something that catches you interest, but without having to deal with SOE.

No thanks.  Everquest1 forces you to group at a pretty early level.  The problem with that?  There's nobody to group with because SOE ignored the newbie game and put all the emphasis on high level raids and groups.  EQ1 is about the last game I'd want to start from scratch in.

I really see where your comming from... I loved EQ1, and played for a good while, thoroughly enjoying my entire time there.  That being said, I now count myself as one of those players that can no longer morally support any MMO SOE, moral choice as it is, it's filled with lots of personal oppinions that have nothing to do with this subject. *grr SWG... heh sorry :)

Anyways, EQ1 was fun, I wish I could find an MMO that could bring that feeling back.

Sorry lomax, I also have to strongly disagree.

Everquest 1 may still be incredibly popular. And now so is the dazzling EQ2.

I have played them both for many hours to give them a fair chance.

    ... And I really don't understand people.

Turbine OWNS Sony in the mmo department.

Asheron's Call (1) owns EQ1, EQ2 and even WoW so bad it isn't even funny.

It really staggers me how a 6 year old game like Asheron's Call can still have so much more content and be more fun then all the newer, prettier games out.

Who would I place at #2 currently? I'd have to give that to Saga of Ryzom with all their new content, they are moving up from their initial release in leaps in bounds. If people would honestly give SoR a chance now (even if they did around Christmas last year and didn't like it)... chances are they'd be hooked. SoR is a great, and totally innovative mmo, unlike the likes of EQ2 and WoW.

Ofcourse that is just my 2 cents. I haven't yet tried GW.
