I loved it, especially when the music started at 1:23.
Note: don't watch this if you want to save for game launch. There's no spoilers so it's no big deal if you do.

I haven't played any recent blizzard games, but is this the one you're talking about?
If it is, then ESO should just use this or this as a cinematic intro is it not? Instead they used the engine within the game which for me is better.

Was going to say the same thing.
Kudos to ZOS for at least not making a 100% CGI intro video.
Hm, I guess it was ok. Nothing really breathtaking. *shrug*
Personally I would have preferred a cool cinematic over ingame graphics. The music is the only redeeming quality.

Like this?
^^ Same i don't even like the game ( or plan on playing) but i plan on seeing how launch and everything goes and i thought it was good up until their showed gameplay ( esp with how eso plays) , felt like they should have gone full cgi or full gameplay but it felt to meh with how they did both .

Well, Blizzard can´t help their company policy of spending millions on trailers..
This trailer is sufficient to to immerse people in the story, and good enough to show any real weaknesses.. But most of all, it saves the development team a lot of money that they now can spend on ingame mechanics and features..
You can´t compare anything to Blizzards animations, they are an artform, and i still can´t understand why they did notmake the Warcraft music with these high quallity animations instead of real actors.

You make it seem as if having a policy like that is bad ?
Witty & Wicked
Why not?
Here's a comparison of the Wildstar cinematic trailer to the trailer released at the same time, which was the Mists of Pandaria trailer.:

Why can't they be compared in content and quality? they're both representations of their respective games (or, they should be) within the same genre trying to get the same audience.
On topic of this rather STANDARD Elder Scrolls introduction of some voice over talking about what Year it is within the game's universe, how some prophecy of a prisoner is going to stop something from the Daedra realms, and then a camera scroll through areas while credits roll. It's all well known and does fit the audience (Elder Scrolls fans) for what they're expecting.
However, let's not ignore the very stiff animations, the cheesy look of the Daedra armies (save for the singular dragon thingy that flies about then lands), the poor texture quality, and the overall general feel that this was something that was in prototype for Oblivion's release, but got scrapped for something better. Yes, quality is pre-Oblivions, let alone pre-Skyrim.
Seriously?
Even Neverwinter had a better intro cinematic. It's bland and poorly executed not something I expected from a company that previously released which was gorgeous, full of ambience and alot more interesting.
A scrolling wall of text with the music would be more enticing as the graphics seriously gives off a feeling of staleness, dated execution and no imagination. At least to me or perhaps I have just gotten too old for the whole "You are teh wunderkind, plz savez teh wurld fur epixxx!!!"
Intro music - Very good
Intro textures - Terrible
Intro animation - Terrible
I think the intro nails the production values and graphical quality of the game perfectly...
Actually, if that policy means, having to cut features from the game, and spending that money on a trailer..... Then its a bad thing..
And yes, even WoW had to cut many features for release, because they did not have enough resources, if they would have spend the trailer budget on resources, the game would have been much better at release

Maybe its just me, why should they spend so much money on a 2 minutes trailer, 2 minutes of a game you play for 2000 hours, why should they spend like 5% of their total budget on that trailer?
i think money like that would have been way better spend on ingame stuff, like improving combat animations, adding chatbubbles, have atleast two adventure zones in the gane at release and more...

ESO already had a 2 part CGI trailer, this isn't it. this is just an in game intro using in game graphics.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gL940XjIl8o
that is their CGI trailer. if you are going to compare ESO's trailer to wow or WS, compare it to that, not something that was made with in game graphics.
by the way i do agree that blizzard still has the best CGI trailers out there.
It's a tough crowd.
When Bioware put out it's series of cinematics people complained that they cost way too much money, and it was a waste at the expense of the game. Zenimax puts out this (and it is admittedly stiff) and people want CGI.
For what it is, it's fine, now that I've seen it, I'll skip going forward, it achieves it's goal and that's about it, as far as memorable, it isnt even on the radar.
gets me a little pumped.
I like that video of dark souls 2 from e3 with the music of nitzer ebb that gets me pumped and accepting to die over and over again.
could not get into the souls games to difficult but ill try again in dark souls2.
you can listen to it for eso but luckily we die less I only died when their were to many bugs and I had to play above level missions.
This ^
We have pages of people comparing apples to oranges on this thread.
This is NOT the Cinematic TRAILER for this game. We've already seen the trailers for this game, and they are on par with most others (and might even be made by the same people. These trailers often get shipped out to 3rd party studios to make).
What you guys are looking at is the intro to the tutorial for ESO. That is why it's using in-game graphics. That is why it ends with you (though they purposefully hide your features) Inside a prison cell. This is because the very next thing that happens is you trying to escape your prison cell.
Basically what is being seen here is ESO's equivelant of when you first start a new character in Skyrim and are being driven to your execution. Imho skyrim does a better job with this, but neither can be considered trailers.
Yes... how could we almost forget about that one,, very high quallity indeed, almost blizzard quallity, just not as stylized as a blizzard one..
The ingame openings scene, this post is about however suits its goal very much, its high enough quallity to immerse people in the game.... sadly its a bit old, using older animations that are not on par with the annimations currently in game..
But again, thank you for posting that CGI, it was great...
