Which MMORPG

Hi, ive been trying to decide which MMORPG to get. After reading some reviews, checking the forums, game concepts, videos of in game footage etc. Narrowed it down to this list

WoW (concerns about longevity)
EQ2 (concerns about SOE)
Eve (i played a little in the beta for this. Was impressed by the atmosphere and graphics but it did seem very complicated and isolated. Didnt see a lot of human players basically)

Saga of Ryzom (apparently has the potential to be good, but concerns about stability and content)
Matrix Online (  not sure about this)

Other online games ive played: DAOC a bit, Neocron, earth and beyond (what a nightmare), Planetside and Guild wars beta. (Guild Wars is pretty good actually but same longevity as an MMORPG?)
Or should i give the all the above a miss and try to get into the D&D online beta?

looking for more mature community not powergaming orientated but RP.
Any other inventive MMORPGS which look promising and are near completion or are worth doing BETA for?

theres quite a few online games out there how do you choose??
thanks for your time.

Defindtly give EVE another go, you can find 14-day free trials out there, I think youll be pleasantly surprised with how its changed.

Based upon that comment alone I would say The Matrix Online or EVE Online is the best choice of the choices you offered. They are entirely different games, so you would need to provide more information to better figure out your interests.

I don't bother to choose. I play them all and stick with the ones I like. I see no reason to fret and worry so much about it, but then I'm fortunate to not have money be an issue.

Best to sort it out is to get into free trials : Wow i'm not sure you can, except with a guest free key. Free trial for Ryzom is 14 days but beware you may become a Ryzom-addicted like me image

Longevity or end game? Because Blizzard doesnt screw up games and it will be here for a while. There is a reason sooooooooo many people play it.....its really good. Some will say because it was hyped up so much. May be part of the reason but 6 months later.....still adding servers. Yeah it has problems but every game does. Not sure what you really like though so opinions could differ.

EQ2 is also a good game but like you said SOE sucks, but at least you know the game will be there for a while.

Eve online, fun if your into the space thing. Personally found it boring as I would rather have a character running around sometime. If your not hardcore I would have suggested SWG another really fun game with alot to do. But due to recent events I think SOE ruined the game even more than it allready was.

Really cant go wrong with any of those games but I would suggest WOW especially if you arent a  hardcore player. Casual to medium players shouldnt have a problem with end game content since they arent really in a race to get there. Plus if your into pvp, you can join a pvp server or a normal server and pvp when you want to.

back.   well they only had WoW,  EQ2 and Matrix Online.    Was *really* tempted to get WoW.  Have played previous Blizzard games and liked them.  And even though im a big fan of the Matrix films i still dunno about it.  Might get both of them and also download the 14 day trials for Eve and Ryzom image

I would chose Eve. The rest have little depth.

Saga has a certain charm but like the others the novelty soon wears off unless you enjoy powergaming.

I vote SoR or Eve, myself. You said you want a mature, RP type community, and definitely leaves WoW out of the running. EQ and EQ2 have one thing in common- the most unfriendly communties I've ever experienced, so I'd not suggest that, either. The Matrix may be one you could enjoy- but I prefer the 2 I mentioned.

I've been asking this same question myself. I had been playing City Of Heroes for awhile. But I haven't played that for maybe 2 months. (subscription down the drain...ouch) But odds are I will just sit around and wait for D&D online to come out. But if I had to choose I would probably go with SoR

    do it to it

Let me give you the legitamte rundown. Stay away from all Asian themed or produced MMORPG's simply because they suck royally. Games that were let downs but not Asian themed are EVE Online, Horizons, Project Entropia, Lineage 2 and The Matrix Online. Just avoid these titles trust me.

If I were you I would just hold on until D&D Online enters open beta then you'll be able to test and play it for free. There are some other games with free trials worth taking a stab at. RYL looks promising I've been wanting to give that a try myself. If you definately cannot wait just go to the store and look at what online games there are to choose from. Most of them offer a 14 to 30 day free trial.

If I were you and you are not subscribed to anything yet I would wait. There are some very promising titles coming out soon.

D&Donline when it come out.  What you do until then is your choice, but D&D will rule the world!!!

(Anyone arguing will receive a: DIE HERETIC answer, with a thoughtfull explanation resolving around: DIE HERETIC, and any question will be answered by a very tactfull: DIE HERETIC).
