This game is immersive

To tell the truth i havent been so immersed in an mmo other than wow.

The game feels and reaches the immersion of wow at a different level of course.

Wow gives you the immersion being in a fairy tale world while Eso gives you the immersion of a realistic world.

To summarize immersion is not only about graphics or art but a combnation of everything in the game including music ambient sounds etc etc.

So far it looks great.

It's the first time im staying at a town and just dont wanna do anything but just listening to the music.

This is a very ++ for me as it describes the ability of the devs to catch the players attention and seduce them into this world.

Im sure ill write a review when i reach lvl 50 or something we will see how it goes.

For the moment i enjoy the maintenance :)

When you exclude the tons of bugs, play Blindman's Bluff, then yes.

What MMO has been released bug free?

  • I've cleared the beginning area and most of the Auridon from the AD area and haven't encountered a single bug.

I spent some time tweaking sound levels and must admit it has been a hella long time since I felt really immersed into a game like this. I turned music off completely as I've never understood why my character has some sort of invisible mp3 player in game. It only distracts from what is actually happening in game. Ambient is set to max. Affects to about 50% (default is WAY too loud). Foot steps to about 85% and voice 65% (again default is too loud, whereas Swtor voice was barely loud enough to hear at all). I use an aged but very good 5.1 system with a surprisingly good sub woofer for the money.

The sound really stands out this way. I hear footsteps coming and going, sounds of nature or towns all around me and when it rains in game thunder hits the sound of thunder is so loud it shakes the room I am in. Simply standing around listening to nature and birds is rather nice and when combat occurs the sounds of spells and attacks stand out far more without music getting in the way.

The sound in game is top notch if only you allow it to take over. Those who listen to music while ignoring most of game sounds miss out so much I wonder why they even play an rpg type game.

I dont believe in killers or anything :) I just want to play great games and I hope eso is one of those cause i grew up with es games.

If it manages to attract lots of  wow players then it's a good game sign by a lot.

Usually good games dont need advertisement and bullshit because the games speaks for it self and the word of mouth is the best advertisement a game can have.

Although i cant fully judge till i reach max content but so far i enjoy it more than any other mmo that released after wow.

I wish it continue like this.

Please tell me you are kidding. I personally love music in my MMOs and
RPGs and can distinguish quite easily between music and game sounds. This game, like WoW and GW2 and Lotro get it right the perfect balance between music and sound. I respect that you find it ruins immersion but I find it improves it in much the same way music seals the deal for certain movies like Star Wars or Lord of the rings.

Really.  You find not being able to interact with the environment as immersive.

Why would I be kidding and who starts a response like this? You 15 or younger?

To each their own. I am talking about immersion into an RPG. What I have to say is for those interested in full immersion (playing completely from your character's point of view). If you do not play this way nor plan on playing this way ... THEN DO NOT REPLY as it doesn't pertain to you. When you read something you take a moment to interpret it from several perspectives before responding. The world does not revolve around you alone.

Game feels very immersive to me as well. Amazing but not WoW vanilla immersive. I still remember the first time I made a night elf and heard teh Teldrassil music. That was truly epic.

Btw one of the most immersive themes I have heard was the Morrowind theme. Wishful thinking that it is also somewhere in ESO :)

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

The RPG side of the game is definitely well done, something that can't be said for many a MMO. I'm having a blast at any level just gathering for my profession, finding loot and completing quests

The characters however are pretty bland in my experience so far, none of them were really that memorable even though the stories were well done which is a shame. I'm sure it can be done. I just want that feeling of an epic encounter versus some character I've grown to like.

You will see NPCs react to your exploits though if you backtrack to other towns. Seen speeches where the npcs have gathered to hear a town has been liberated or they will be chatting to each other.

It's the most immersive mmo I've played easily.  From all the ambient noises, npc's chatting, weather, critters roaming about, ability to talk with almost npc for conversation even if they have no quest or purpose, etc etc.

I can look through drawers, bookcases, wardrobes, sacks, crates, barrells, etc, talk to any npc there is pretty much and kill all the little random critters roaming about.  I call that interacting with the environment, in more detail than any mmo I've played thus far.  If your definition of "interact with environment" as a means to feel immersed means destroy and blow things up then no, I guess to you the world would not be immersive.  Thankfully that is not the criteria I hold for a game to include interacting with the environment or immersion however.

It is immersive in terms of lore and environment. It's not immersive in the sense that I can grab a shovel and dig holes in the ground; that's actually not very immersive, that's just sandbox. Sandbox and immersion are often two different things.

ESO draws you into the game without the need of randomly giving you an axe to cut down forests, because the game doesn't provide you with a logical reason to do so. If however there was an NPC-to-player dialog that gave the right reasons and motivations, it could end up leading to cutting down a forest, and then it would be immersive as it would fit the general atmosphere of the game in that particular moment. (This is just an example, I don't think there are many logical ways to ask a player to cut down an entire forest, unless it was Mages Guild story related, *cough*.)

I'm glad a thread like this has been created because a lot of what I have seen has been negative. I have not felt this immersed in a game since Vanilla WoW on that first log in day. That is saying ALOT. I really hope this game does extremely well because I want it to make all the money it can so that that money and resources can be poured right back into making the game better, improving what is already there, and most importantly, pushing the boundaries of gaming to the next level( Oculus Rift support hint hint nod nod).

Definitely sticking with this one for the long haul.

If I had a nickel for every WoW killing claim I'd be Bill Gates. Sounds even more foolish a few days into launch lmao. There is nothing even remotely polished about TESO so doubtful it will even kill GW2 let alone WoW.

It's already late in the night, but can't stop playing haha.

Hope some quests are fixed that i had to skip for now, it doesn't say in the patch notes but it's 750mb big.

Ebon side the protectors quests and the Balreth are supposedly fixed people are saying with this patch.

Yup very immersive.  The fact that every npc you can interact with have voice overs really help.  Often in MMO's there are quests that are simply tl;dr, in this game I can just kick back and listen to what the npc has to say.  Oh and the fact that you can pick different choices at certain stages of quests also help.  I was almost shocked when I had to choose how to progress through a quest a few times.  I know the decisions may not make a huge difference in the end, but it's nice to know every once in awhile you bump into quests where you can be the bad guy if you want to, or choose to save someone and play it good.

Combat to me is also immersive.  If I don't pay attention, I get pwned.  Which is quite embarrassing, things like that just don't happen often in MMO's anymore.

The artistic style and look/feel of the game does feel a bit like Vanguard 2.0.  Luckily this game does not have near the technical issue that Vanguard had, so at least now we can have another pretty looking game without going stylistic, one that actually works.

ESO brought back the RPG long lost in MMORPG's in my opinion.  It's great that there's a choice like this game out there for those looking for it.  Currently I split my time here with GW2, roughly 20% GW2 80% ESO at the moment.

Agree with the immersion factor.   WoW, LOTRO and now ESO are top immersion games for me.   I get lost here and frankly just wander around completely overshooting my quest objectives.

Wait til they add things like housing (just hoping) and other immersive goodies.  How about a music system ala LOTRO?

I would love a LOTRO music system, but at least they have some musical emotes.  have you tried them?  try /lute for an example
