Viable number of Crafting Professions?

How many crafting professions is viable to level knowing you have a limited number of skill points to use?

1? 2? 3? 5?

You are using skill points for damage and passives. I would think that if you try to level all crafting professions, you will be short when applying skill points to your damage ability trees.

Is there a "sweet spot" in the number of crafting professions you choose to level and not adversely affect your ability to build your ability trees?

One, if you're looking to make end-game VR 10 gear and still be competitive in combat. This is my understanding but could be wrong. I know it's impossible to master all of them.

it also depends on alts and speccing.  What I suspect (for I don't know yet), to make a pure crafter you have to fight to 50.  Then you have to get mats.  Now, if that's done by an alt and put into the bank you can spec your guy to have SP put into ALL crafts (I forget the exact number but I am pretty sure I cross ref. that in the past to the crafting skills).  Problem is, you'll be gimped for most other things. That and the fact that you need to research about ~60hrs worth of traits and that's if you go all Eve-online and ensure you are re-upping the research on the dot.

I am as well. I'm doing Blacksmithing, Clothing, and Woodworking on my main. That way, when I get the racial motifs, I unlock them for all of them. However, I'm going to focus only on Blacksmithing until my combat build is done to my satisfaction. After that is done and I have spare points, I'll dump them into Crafting and Woodworking.

Lot more than 60 hrs of training. Starting at 6 hrs every time you research something new for the same item that time doubles.

I would think losing the skill points only would gimp you in variety and versatility of builds and not the power of a singular build you want to use. As in you can only use so many skills at one time. So long as you get the ones you want to use and do not mind lack of variety on your characters combat you can take the rest in crafting. You are just a one combat trick pony.
