I just had to pause to say it. I've been questing in there the past day and a half. There is so much there. For me it's the main game world. A Master Craftsman made Cyrodiil.
edit- Right after I typed the above, I went on a quest. We, Daggerfall, had claimed Blue Road Keep. Blue Road is pretty deep into Aldmeri and Ebnonheart territory, and happened to be near where I needed to go. I decided to take the opportunity and go. I might not be as close again today.
This video picks up in Cheydinhal as I near the quest location, and takes you along with me for 8 minutes as I attempt to complete. Sneaking, lock picking, engagement, it's all here and unexpected.

If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
Wait, have you been just questing or doing some pvp too? Give us some videos Bully.
I personally need to see if the whole place won't just turn into a massive blob zerg push and pull war.
There are a lot of zerg fights, but at the same time there is just as much small group fighting as well. The map is big enough to facilitate both at the same time. I have been in everything for 1v1 to 100s vs 100s. Just depends on where you go on the map and what your preference is.

I'm just scratching the surface there. I've had some zerg fights, taken some smaller objectives while the zergs were focused elsewhere. Done some straggler ambushing, the PvP is a lot of fun. Tonight, my guild is doing an open dungeon run in Cyrodil. I'm really looking forward to that.

While there is that, there is so much else to do as I said above. One thing I like to do is, when one of my alliance keeps is under attack, I wait just outside of the nearest opposing alliance keep with a few friends. As attackers die at my keep, they respawn at their keep and start running back. That's when we strike. We've already helped to brake one Zerg that way.
I JUST made an 8 minute video of doing a quest and turning in 2. I'll render it in a bit and add to OP.
As far as the zerg, I haven't seen it for my hour of play this morning.
I have no problem killing ranged characters as a sword and board dragonknight.
A lot of people have been complaining about ranged, but really it's the 2H nightblades with charge and assassinate that will get you in 2-3 hits. Ranged are really easy to handle if you have a decent grasp on the block button and 1 charge ability.

There is even small group fighting around the zergs. This isn't GW2 where you stand on top of each other and stack might and stability thank goodness. For those that don't know yet zeg vs zerg is spread out over the landscape, behind buildings, over and behind hills. It is a good long line of people waiting to get picked off.
^This. There are so many ways to close the distance. 1H/Shield and 2H both have a charge. Nightblade has Teleport Strike, DKs have a pull and a knockdown, Sorcs have a snare and a root. If you're doing melee you should be fine as long as you build your toon correctly. When all else fails, you've got two weapon builds at 15, have a bow as your backup.
I just uploaded the video here
Oh, i know there're small fight. The issue is the lack of small scale objectives for them. Even Zenimax admits this in their page where they say "solo" and "small group" PVP is joining a gank squad and cutting off reinforcements.
When the only objectives for pvp are the keeps, it'll probably end up funneling everyone to them once the "newness" of Cyrodiil's pve content runs out and all that's left is the important part, player confrontation.
I really hope i end up being wrong, but as i explained in my thread once, the extreme focus on keeps, easy to access siege weapons, transit network, no supply camps, etc will end up causing mass blobs to be the most effective tactics by far.
EDIT: Just noticed the video. Thanks for updating Bully. "Make sure no one's coming", gets attacked.
No no no, keeps are not the only objectives. Around keeps there are supply mines, farms, etc.. that you can take as a small group. It's essential to take them, because taking them cuts off the ability for enemies to port directly into their keeps. Early this morning I was involved in some epic fights, and a lot of the fights were over these supply camps. Often you have a zerg going on the offensive taking keeps, but you still need people to defend your own keeps & supply camps. That's where you get smaller pocket fights during supply camp defense.
Also what they said about cutting off reinforcements is 100% legit, I got ganked by solo players as well as gank squad groups no less than 5 times early this morning. Plus I bumped into a quest in a town somewhere on the map, started to do the quest myself solo, and bumped into 2 other solo players doing quests from the other factions. I killed them solo, one was an sorc vs sorc fight that lasted quite awhile. It was such fun times. So small groups have a place, even soloers have a place in Cyrodiil. I'm completely sold on this, and I didn't beta because I didn't want to spoil the gameplay. One tip, do the PvP tutorial when you enter Cyrodiil for the first time, you'll gain good exp and the npc's will teach you a lot of things. At the end you'll know there are like 4 daily quests you can take from the bulletin boards, one of which is to kill 20 players, the other a scouting mission, both of which are easily done solo or in small groups.
Those of you that remember DAOC's relic raids, where you could steal another realm's relic and carry it home for added zone-wide bonus. They have Elder Scrolls raid here, where you could steal another realm's scrolls, and carry it back home. I was involved in a Scrolls raid, 100 of us went in, majority of us riding horses (it's something else to see in person, I tell ya). Once we succeeded in sieging the keep, someone took the relic and we had to escort the guy back, fending off attackers on the way. Boy this was such a nostalgic moment, one of the reasons why I was looking forward to a game developed by Matt Firor. Relic raid is something I have not experienced since DAOC, there's no such thing in GW2. Even though GW2 did a lot of things right in WvW, and I thoroughly enjoyed GW2, this one gameplay session totally got me hooked as it was something I have not experienced since DAOC days.

Last night I was part of a 40 man group, and we had at least 20 more outside the group, that were taking the MINE, FARM and LUMBER MILLS. The tension was thick as we defended one Keep and moved on to the next Daggerfall keep to try and take down.
What happened next was something that will live forever in my gaming memories:
Our groups approached the MINE from the south, it was on a down slope, so the keep did not have a direct line of sight. We proceeded to make quick work of the guards, and the flag quickly turned to the Yellow of the DOMINION!! The DAGGERFALL keep knew we were stalking them.
The group leader told everyone to get inside the tower quickly, and go stealth. 60-70 Dominion characters on the outside ledge of the tower, in stealth....waiting. The adreailine began to flow, this was something I had not experienced in a game in years.
Minutes passed....3 horses crested the edge of the hill about 300 yards from us. They seemed to pause for a few seconds, then turned back, returning to the keep. The tension was growing. Time began to slow down....all i could hear was birds in the trees. The sun was going down behind the Keep in the distance.
Suddenly a massive group of riders crest the hill in full gallop! Our Group leader quickly told everyone to HOLD....WAIT for them to get near the flag....
They took out some NPC's off to the left of us, and then quickly jumped on the guards near the flag....
CHARGE!!! without any knowledge of us watching them, we struck from above, lighting, fire, swords swinging, staffs blazing with swirling fire...!!!
In just a brief moment of time...no one was left alive....Dominion was victorious in this small skirmish!!
The group errupted in "OMFG", "HOLLYWOOD BATTLE!!"....but the group leader yelled out "WE ARE NOT DONE!! STORM THE KEEP!!!"
This game has me hooked!!!
I thought I missed something, I see i'm not only one, becouse what i see see is basicly 1 char running arround hidden, well i could do that on my thief in WoW in 2005 ...
Exactly!
... if you are also someone who compares an aircraft carrier to a dinghy like will75.
You stay sassy!
Just to point out GW2 did have Orbs, which i remember players said were like the Relics from DAOC, but i can't tell since i never played daoc.
EDIT: BTW, this isn't me hating on ESO, since i do want RVR to work out. But unfortunatly, the closer i looked at it, the worse the design seemed. A big map is great, but you need the mechanics to had the depth it needs to make it engaging for the long run.
Massive keep battles are awesome, of course, but if it's the only thing, or the majority of it, it'll probably end up getting boring. But i'll keep watching and hoping for the best.
You sir, are assuming they won't add anything else, update RvR, add new content, etc.. You are assuming ESO is going to be like GW2, where they treat WvW like second rate citizens and pretty much ignore WvW players until a new game is out.
This is why reading what you are posting sounds like you're complaining just to complain, and that's just my honest truth. But say if you have played the game, have done all there is to it, finished all PvE quests in Cyrodiil, have ranked up and gotten all your skill points and abilities, then sure, come post about how boring it gets after that. Until then, you're playing the forum game of "what if I did it all?!", assuming the game will not have further updates, content, and features added before you do it all.
Cyrodiil for what it is, at launch state, on launch day, without any new content, updates, or features added to is, is for a lack of a better word Amazing. People writing it off by talking about the "long term" are simply not even giving the game the credit it deserves. Really, sounding just like you're complaining to complain.

Actually it's closer to Quel Thalas, but 100 times bigger with 10 times the quests, plus keeps, and dungeons, and Dark Anchors (rifts).
As far as Queue up, I was the first guy to say PvP zones suck! I figured it would be like RvR or something. I wanted to know if I could live there. What I found is the game doesn't end, and I can live there. I've only left once since early access.
Trust me man I know where you are coming from, I felt just like you. Cyrodiil is much better than I could have imagined.
ESO isn't DAOC.
Your grumpy old man is showing.
You stay sassy!

I stopped playing AoW Blame it on ESO. Management played a part too.
It's different man. Wushu is a sandbox with everything player driven. For me ESO combat and Cyrodiil design is as visceral as Wushu's systems are brilliant.
Right now today, ESO better for different reasons
