You pay for more. You just can't hoard everything in the game. And bank is shared space between toons. If you want extra, you pay. You don't deserve an entire vault to yourself at lvl 1 after all. And every toon should be entitle to their own extra vaults.
You get plenty of slots, eventually. You can get more slots by feeding your horse as well as the usual bag upgrades. In the end you have over 200 slots on your character. If you are trying to horde all the provisioner crafting materials though.. don't. You don't need to.. just craft your food and drinks each time you make a trip back to town and then sell the materials you have left over (they eventually start being worth a bit of gold).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
Inventory management was difficult initially. But as I leveled up, got more gold, I was able to buy both bag space and bank space. Now it seems like a non-issue. I sure am glad I can just use gold to buy bag/bank space, I miss that from subscription based games.
Funny you should say realistic. Realistic inventory might involve carrying a couple extra items and some food, but then having to throw all of it on the ground every time you get into a fight. And since we are talking about "realistic" someone can just come up and take that stuff off the ground. Oh and the bank charges you fees to hold onto your stuff for you.

I think we understand the term realistic differently then i guess.

That's exactly what used to happen in EQ. If you wanted to swap items between characters you needed to find a quiet spot, put your stuff on the ground, log out, and then log in with your other character and pick it up. Just make sure both characters were in the same spot for the swap. If you delayed the next character logging in, someone could come along and pick all your stuff up. It's a shame we can't put anything down now without it being deleted.
It really depends on how much crafting you want to do and which ones. Provisioning is one of the worst unless you only collect a few ingredients that you need at that moment.
If you want to do it all and deconstruct everything you find the game will be an inventory management nightmare and you will need multiple alts to keep everything.
If you stick to 2 or 3 crafting professions and sell at least half of the items you find and ignore provisioning you should be fine. Though you will still have to do lots of trips back to town to sell stuff.

That's not true.. I'm hoarding all the ingredients for every crafting profession in the bank except for provisioning stuff and style stones(?). Every single one of them. I go to town, deconstruct, craft food, mark left over food ingredients and style stones as junk, go to bank, put the whole materials tab in there, go to merchant, sell junk. If I get a 100 stack of materials I'm not really using, I sell them.
Not really a nightmare...
