I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong place. I saw a post on the SW: Old Republic forum elsewhere on this site that it would be better to go here. Anyways, onto the matter at hand.
I want to play Star Wars: The Old Republic. But am unsure if my PC can run it even after I did a PC test on it. When I ran the PC test, everything checks out except my graphics card. Easy enough to upgrade my graphics card. So, no problem there.
But my Duel Core-Processor is the real problem for me. When I ran the PC test, I got a green circle with an exclamation mark next to my Processor info. Not sure what that means since it wasn't a RED mark, but green. Confusing. The game requires at least 2.0 Ghz to play but my Processor is only 1.6 Ghz. What is puzzling is why the PC test didn't mark my PC's Processor in the red. Very odd.
Here's the PC's Processor I have along with it's number that you can google if you wish.
ET1331G-05W
Windows 7 (64 bit)
AMD Athlon x2 Duel-Core Processor (1.6 Ghz)
Can someone please help me?

The game transfers between computers with no issue - everything is just linked through your Origin/Bioware account. And the game is Free2Play now, So there's nothing lost if you download the game and try it, even if you decide to sub or purchase stuff in the game. So the worst thing is that you download the game and try it on your computer now, and see what you think, before you put any money anywhere. If it runs at all, great, if it doesn't, you won't be surprised at least.
You could get it to run with a new graphics card, and maybe even playable to some extent. But after you spend the money and energy on upgrading the graphics card, you will wish you had saved the money because it will still likely be a laggy mess because of that processor (although a really pretty in HD mess).
And there are other technical issues if you decide to just upgrade: will the new card fit in your case? Will your power supply be hearty enough to run your new video card? Will there be enough cooling for the new video card?
I recommend you start thinking about an entire new computer, rather than trying to upgrade this one.
Before you buy anything, ask on the forums. Plenty of people here and on other sites can give you good advice.
The first thing you need to figure out is your budget. A PC can be as cheap as $500 and run games on low to medium settings for a few years before it needs an upgrade. If your goals are to run games on higher settings and play graphically-intense games like FPS shooters, you might need to spend $1000.
With computers, the phrase, "you get what you pay for," is especially true. If you spend more on the components, your system can be better. If you buy the cheapest computer you can find from WalMart, don't expect to be able to do more than Facebook games on it. Also, when you buy from any place which has the system assembled, you are paying for someone to turn a screwdriver. Places like these tend to not tell you the exact components in the system and give you the cheapest parts they can put in there, resulting in a low-quality product that earns them a higher profit margin.
Ahhh....I think I've got it.
1. Mercilessly beat your eMachine with a sledge hammer.
2. Buy any other brand of computer.
Problem solved.
You can't run it. Your computer is slower than some modern mobile phones are. The only viable way to run it is to purchase a new computer.
If you want, SWTOR is free to try so you can download it and try running with that computer. It costs nothing, but it won't run at any playable framerate.
Upgrading that computer is not a good solution. You'd need to replace CPU, motherboard, RAM, graphic card and power supply.
EDIT: Btw it's a dual-core processor, not a duel-core processor /EDIT
Burn the e-machine in a barrel in your backyard and spend around $700.00 and you can have a very decent system. It should be able to run most games out there.
Minimum - I-5 processor
Minimum - 4 gigs of Ram
Minimum - 200gb Hardrive
Minimum - 1gb Video Card
Be sure to get Windows 7 - because Windows 8 is shit.
Profit!
I bought this 2 years ago for around $1200.00 + 500.00 for the TV and it still runs anything on beast settings.

Dont try to upgrade an e-machine. They are built to be a cheap option for someone who needs a cheap computer or who does not know any better.
It is probably fine for web surfing, streaming, ect. Never meant for gaming in any fashion. Putting another gpu in there very well may kill the PC & whatever gpu you decided to buy.
Look towards buying / building a PC that actually is designed with gaming in mind. E machine is for light office work at best.
$700-$800 will get you something decent. $600 will get you something to start with, but has an upgrade path.
Now all we need is the Cyberpower salesman that recently joined to come tell you how awesome they are. Cant end a thread without that.!
Stay Away from Cyber Power. I usually don't bash without good reason. I know from personal experience that this company is best to avoid.

In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
Oh I agree. Two people I know made the same mistake of buying a PC from cyberpower. I was actually being sarcastic and was referring to this thread.

Some of the advice here is pretty funny, mainly the championing of buying a prebuilt from cyberpower.
