They emailed you like 1 week earlier, that you can already download the game isnt it?
And if youre client really bugged, why didn't you stop the download, pressed on repair and it would work again. Thats called read the ESO forum at technical support. I also had to redownload 22 gb but like said 1 min time waste to go to the support forum, and my problem was solved...

I didn't download the game. I bought it...on disc. I found the bit of advice about stopping the repair...but it didn't work for me. It just verified again and then went back to a 13gb download.
Update....reinstalled game from discs and is now patching again. At 79.99kb/s. Its gonna be a long day.

Does it make you feel better that my PC freezes during the patching process? Did 3 times in an hour time period when the "launch" patch came out.
Did three times on the Wildstar beta download that caused it to start from %0

Im sorry for you
It's like this when people see things that doesn't really match their experiance at all..
I have a great broadband, but live in Sweden, I downloaded (from account link) and patched in half hour or so may have been longer or even shorter , I did do it "Before" the launch however, but the patcher has always given me almost full download speeds, so what would your speed be if you would have had max download ?
The DVD's and so on is pressed at a very early date(early version of client), may it be a flaw in the DVD's ? It could be Worth considering, if you still get your problems from your now second try.
I have 2 computers with Win 8.1 and 1 with win 7. On my desktop Win 8.1 it installed fine without issues , on my laptop with Win 8.1 i had to start it with administration rights on the desktop link to get it starting(Nothing happened at all by just clicking the link), finally with my daughters win 7 computer i started with no issues.
I also noticed these 29 Days, infact it "ticked" down from 30 to 29 Days by adding a reacuring subscription plan as the account page asks you to do so. It's very confusing since the games infosquares tells you that they are extending the included month in the launcher. It did so on both my accounts.
Just checked my account page, It has now dropped from 29 Days to 28..
and googled this some more to find out that applying a reaccuring subscription was the problem with this, If I had waited until Sunday to enter I have had more Days to play with. This was poorly done and explained, many has started their subscriptions and has now lost those promised Days.
Yeah...till I try and load and get stuck staring at the loading screen for 15 minutes. So I fire off an email to customer services who have told me to Disable Firewall, Virus Control and User Account Control as well as run as administrator in compatabilty mode for Windows xp sp3. Right? Huh? OK....so the game wont work on Windows 7? I have then to do a repair.
Please make your computer defenseless and it might run our game.
Priceless.
Coming from a customer service job in my past - I can say these are standard and valid. You must have no idea how much people mess with these things.
You have any experience with Norton? McAfee? Webroot? These things break all sorts of stuff.
Dude if you think the downloadspeed is gonna be high on a launchday forget it. In 10 years of mmo-playing you always need to be patient when a game launches. I advise you step over to the digital age if you don't want this delay. But anyhow it's a game it's not gonna run away in 30 days sheesh.

And while that is normally true... each patch this week I have been downloading at the full speed my connection provides (I cap out around 6.5MB/s) - so I think it's purely his connection.
Never had an experience this bad with any MMO ever. The worst launch I've been a part of was Diablo 3 and even then I just went to Winchester, had a nice cold pint and waited for it all to blow over.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I didn't have any problems either, i just updated my betaclient and boom you cloud play. So yeah must be his connection. But i believe installing from discs and patching it up on launchday always goes with hiccups. We generally all went trough that once in your gaminghistory. I find digital clients to be easier then the discs these days. Phsycial copies era is starting to fade more and more.
I see stories like this (experienced it myself once) every time an MMO launches. Don't buy an MMO at launch if this kind of thing is a problem for you.
Give it 6 months to work out some of the major bugs, for the population to stabilize somewhat, etc...
Not trying to say you shouldn't be frustrated, or that the publishers should be let off the hook, just that it's the way it is.
idk I downloaded Gw2 as fast as my connection could go at headstart day
Confused that they aren't using a torrent protocol, as most MMO launchers do, and thats how they get around slow launch day download speeds.
Kinda worried for your computer if you have no anti-virus at all, as a virus can be caught just by going on the google, or downloading a patch etc. I'd check your computer for spyware, as that could of easily corrupted the patch as it was downloading etc. Slow downloads are notorious with getting corrupted too, because it is so slow, packets get lost and never get recovered, so it just ends up with a corrupted file, another reason why torrents are usually used as this easily checks and patches files as it downloaded.
Good luck, and hope the wait doesn't inflate your hype to unreachable standards :P
Whatever man, its your computer badly configured. Not their problem you are using some free shitty antivirus/firewall which blocks legit games, and have bad internet provider.
I was downloading at the limit of my speed every patch during peak hours, no trouble whatsoever with connecting too or game being blocked by my antivirus.
Because I know how to use a computer. But seriously, what do you expect from them? They replied promptly with the solutions. It's not like its their fault, millions are playing fine, and here you and few others encounter some problems which clearly are from your side.
I downloaded GW2 (patch anyway) on launch day too at my max speed. Admittedly...my max speed is awful, which is why I usually buy discs and then patch.
"Get with the digital age"....wish I could but unfortunately we live in a country where you are punished for living in a nice rural area Don't even have 3G signal available.
Just ran tracert and ping checks on IPs as directed by Customer Servies and am getting 100% failure to connect now. Speedtest is still showing 0.8mb (about as good as it gets).
Like I said, I know my connection speed is woeful, but I can pay every other MMo out there and download patches no problem. Currently playing Tera mainly and last patch for that was bout 3.something gb...went through in about 3 and a bit hours. Slow...but Im used to that. Im not used to 0.08.

As harsh as my reply was, it's true. Do you really think it's their fault the game was being blocked by your antiviruses? Not to mention its easy to add the game to firewall's/antivirus's trusted list. It always happens with tons of games and programs, especially with some shitty free antivirus.
I use kaspersky internet security with malwarebytes and never had any problem. if I did I would add it to trusted and it would work perfectly.
Same goes with internet speed. I know it could be their fault, but I don't see how I or my friends were updating every patch during those peak hours at top speeds. And I am from EU, England.
You havent read everything. I am not using an antivirus...this rig is solely used for gaming. Firewall is OFF. UAC is off.
It appears as though (from the ping results) that the connection is fine until it gets to Europe and then fails trying to contact the server which for some inexplicable reason is in the USA...even though I'm playing on the allegedly EU megaserver.
No problem here, and l installed it twice from their website, since l got a new computer since beta. Now l'm loving this game and having a blast. l know l will be playing this game for a long time, is been a long time since l been this excited about playing a video game. l really hope you get the problem solve.

Not trying to say you shouldn't be frustrated, or that the publishers should be let off the hook, just that it's the way it is.
exactly...people always come up with this bs "the game being broken" just because they and 1% of other players have a rough start while 99% others can play just fine... - relax, take a deep breath, assess your options and act on them...
I never said "the game is broken" or implied it. What I did imply is that at least for now "the game is broken FOR ME".
If the "game is broken" for even only 1% of customers and there are conservatively 1 million customers. That equals 10,000 people. 10,000 people multiplied by box price and monthly sub is not just something that should be ignored by a company. in fact having just done the sums for a years subs and the box price or download price (in £) that is £1,428,800. Its not chump change right?
And, to be fair, it isn't being ignored by them, they are trying to help and their response time is good.
If you aren't having these issues, there's not really much point in contributing to the thread. I MAY be the only person in the entire world that is having this problem. Its statistically unlikely though.
As I said before I only posted to see if others had had the same or similar issues and to see how it got resolved. As no one has, then there's probably not much more to say and Ill let Customer Services either fix it or I'll go back to playing my other MMOs.

Numbers and statistics are fun. I can also pull them outta thin air to make a point but fact is that a lot of players are having problems in regards to the patcher and downloads. official forums is where majority of people post to get help on such matter. When was the last time you check customer support forums? i suggest you do, if you really believe the 1% vs 99% BS.
Paying for a F2P experience... priceless indeed...
OP Do not listen to the people claiming that shutting off your firewall and AV is in any way a norm and no one should listen to idiots who claim so (probably the same chumps that pay for firewall/av packages monthly to get their databases updated maybe an hour ahead of free options, maybe, but get lovely shit like the firewall deciding windows is a virus, yes that one is a documented case, or the antivirus stripping out internet explorer which may sound like good news until you realize it breaks allot of stuff).
There are indeed a lot of launcher problems. Most common one is apparently getting an error message, then having to repair and the launcher deletes all of the game files and reinstalls the whole game. Which is why people are launching directly from eso.exe file.
Say what you like but every other game I possess is working fine. Hoping they come up with a solution.
Oh and going through the official forum tech support EU posts, the issue with DL speed being approximately 10 times slower than normal is also common.
"I bought the disc yesterday morning, installed it and then spent 18 hours, yes 18 hours downloading approximately 5gb of patches / updates. This is at a download speed 10 time slower than my connection allows. I have a slow connection, but a 5gb download would usually take about 1.5 - 2 hours. So yeah, 18 hours."
Seriously? I had to download the whole 56GB client over time at 1.5mb in the woods ISP I have. WTF are you complaining about?
Just wow
Lies The whole client is NOT 56gb. I downloaded the whole client from their website and it was only like 22-24gb.
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
