Just to jump in before I head out to see Capt America. I only played Oblivion and not all the way though, but I enjoyed it. I was going to hold off on purchasing for a month or so, but...,yeah. I was in two betas but really only got to play a couple of hours total. I never made it off the starter islands. I played for about 5 hours last night and got level 5 playing a High Elf NB. Here is a Quick my impressions list.
- The world is more open and accessible than what I thought. It is not as much "on rails" as some people have said. It is a thempark no doubt, but not nearly as linear and SWToR (which I also play and enjoy).
- I kind of wish my toons had voiceovers as in SWToR, but that would have limited the gameplay and options to much.
- Combat is more engaging and works well for a causal game (thus far)
- The difficulty level is on par with CoH I think. I can solo a single Mob up too 1 or 2 levels above me. Anything else I am toast.
- Decent loot table, not a lot of useless crap. A lot of crafting stuff early on.
- Pretty stable game play. I froze once and CTD once. very little hitching and no rubber banding,
- Amazing graphics. A more realistic looking world is a nice change
- Good pacing. Level 5 in 5 hours is slow, but I am counting the character creation time, which took me 20-30 mins probably, and I spent a of time looting all the crates and so forth in the beginning.
- Music is great but shout out to the guy you suggested to turn off the music when playing, totally different experience. The ambient noises and sounds are really nice.
- No nameplate is nice, the world doesn't feel as static as a lot of other MMOs, NPCs walk around and often it is hard to decipher PCs from NPC's.
I know its only 5 hours of playtime, but I've played enough MMOs to know a quality a game. yes its a theme park, not a sandbox. Yes its a quest grinder. That is what it was intended to be. And just like SWToR they made the game they wanted, and actually did it very well, not perfect and not without some things I would have liked. But in the end it was worth my $60 +$15 month. As a very casual gamer ( <10 hours game time a week) I look forward to adventuring in this world and see what kind of trouble I can cause. ESO and SWTOR should keep my gaming time slots full At least until AA comes out. Then I will have to make choices.

A buddy of mine is jumping me in one later tonight. I've not played with this group before so we will see how it goes. I have't been in a guild since CoH and SWG. I play SWToR either solo or co-op, so no really need for a guild really. Sounds odd, but I would love a GoT themed RP guild, or just an RP guild for that matter. I play it as it as it comes.
There is no universal Auction House in game and since majority of things in game is traded through guild stores you will have problem as a crafter as well as an adventurer. Very few people bother to spam in general chat to sell things and even then choice is limited. 5 guilds means a lot bigger pool to buy and sell from.
So in my opinion Guilds are must in ESO.
Funny. I have played or at least tried most MMOs over the past 10 years. At least ones that I knew I would enjoy the setting or like style and systems.
Thanks for the tip. The lack of an auction house is a negative, but I get why they made that decision. I'm sure someone will make an offline Auction House at some point.
Always nice to hear people expressing their joy in a game
So mutch better then the perma smashing and bashing of everthing available, lol ^^
Ignore the trolls and just report them. It's a common theme on mmorpg.com where someone posts something positive, someone has to come in and spoil the thread talking about anything but the game that the topic is about.
To the OP, glad you had a great time! I did too, early access and all
